When I Heard, I Just Said No

America’s Lady in Red is back with her Ronnie.

Nancy Reagan passed away yesterday at the towering age of 94.

First Lady Nancy Reagan was just that in so many ways. People first looked to Mrs. Reagan as a personification of grace, intelligence, class and style. She was a one-of-a-kind First Lady of the United States of America. Nancy Reagan will be remembered for her love and devotion to her husband, the conservative cause and for epitomizing what the First Lady should exemplify. Far too often we are forced to look to movies for showcasing the best of a modern American president and first family (Independence Day, Air Force One), but Nancy and Ronald Reagan (former actors themselves) turned that perception into a lasting reality.

They were positive, optimistic role models for people (in and out of politics alike).

Nancy Reagan was surely shocked at the state of vulgarity, lack of civility and absence of optimism in the current race for president. Hopefully, this picture and many others of Nancy Reagan with her husband will send the exact right (and necessary) shock waves to voters of what a first family of the United States should personify.

Republicans loved and idolized her, but so did Americans of varying political stripes. Let’s hope (and pray) people’s memories of her and her husband from a more civilized era can be the wild card of this political season that reveals an inspiring third act, showing the best of who we are for moving into an uncertain future.

If the past 24 hours are any indication, Americans are just saying yes to Nancy Reagan’s loving, elegant legacy.

RIP Nancy Reagan.

Reinventing the Wheel

How do you change the wheel?

Enter 21st century innovation.

Goodyear tires, familiar to anybody who has ever seen or owned a car (or looked up during a college football game), has dedicated its resources to envisioning a wondrous future of driving. In the real world, life-altering advancements take time, brilliance, money, luck, ingenuity, patience and courage.

And let’s not forget persistence.

Will the public (and not just investors) buy-in to a game-changing innovation?

When it comes to cars and the sad realities of inevitable accidents, repairs, flat tires, and a variety of inconveniences and limitations, people are exhausted at the same old routines of car parts not withstanding basic road conditions as they were promised at the dealership. In the same spirit as Dyson and its revolutionary design (for vacuums) of a rotating ball for limitless agility, Goodyear has released a video of a tire that could very well change the way we drive in the future that doesn’t involve the terrifying concept of a driver-less car.

That’s a very cool idea.

Did I just say tires are cool?

Yes, yes I did.

Not only do the Goodyear Eagle-360 concept tires have the realistic potential to be marketable, but these tires could transform how roads are designed in the future. At the highest level, this country’s infrastructure could be directly impacted by this tire design. Innovation takes time to become a valued and reliable product with people. There are many, many stages of development, retooling and testing.

With all that being said, that daring first step is always exciting.

It gets the ball rolling.

The Trailer is Looking at Me, Ray

We may be heading towards yet another summer of some Old Testament, wrath of God type stuff.

A Ghostbusters reboot is just a few months away.

Was this a good idea?

How do you top Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson?
(Hint: Nobody can)

Will an all-female cast of Ghostbusters hold their own?

One thing is is for sure: The 1984 original and 1989 sequel are absolutely untouchable in the Ghostbusters universe.

The second thing for sure is there’s a new reboot coming July 15th with an all-female cast and they appear ready to add an entertaining chapter to this epic story of green slime, proton packs and refrigerators from hell.

Doesn’t this movie seem perfect for Sandra Bullock and Julia-Louis Dreyfus?

Well, they weren’t called.

However, we do know who was called and it looks like they get into some exciting conflicts with some new ghosts. Above all else, hopefully they remembered that age old proverb:

When somebody asks you if you’re a God (or Goddess), you say yes!

The Slide of Your Life

If you’re afraid of heights…how do I put this?

If a skyscraper of more than 70 stories doesn’t evoke a sense of wonder at being so high in the sky, a clear glass slide on the outside of said building should certainly do the trick.

Along with some possible vertigo.

Give the property owners of the U.S. Bank Tower some credit: They are gutsy and potential branding geniuses.

Starting in June, the U.S. Bank Tower will become a destination for locals and tourists alike as long as the initial reviews are positive (and safe). Local news outlets and social media will inevitably reinvigorate the buzz from today’s news and, if the thrill of gliding down a transparent slide is like a scene from Mission Impossible, this slide will become a unique L.A. experience.

More specifically: A unique U.S. Bank experience.

And experience is the optimum word: Return on Experience (ROE). If all goes well, U.S. Bank could very well become synonymous with an exciting, heart-pounding attraction.

Or, in other words, the complete opposite of banking.

Their brand would branch out beyond their serious-minded industry. U.S. Bank begins to become something more than just finance management. This company becomes an engaging story to the public.

With any good story, people always want to know what’s coming next…

P.S. $8 for a single ride, U.S. Bank? There’s a risk in this positive story morphing into a scheme of new hidden fees. Lower the price and donate proceeds to a local charity. That will get Millennials and social media on your side.
