The Skeleton Triplets

Who will you be this weekend?

Friday and Saturday offer that incomparable opportunity to break loose from the stresses of the week and, in some cases, our very persona.

There are no bones about it.

Or you can be like Ryan.

Don’t be like Ryan this weekend…

or ever.

The Never-Ending Big Sky of Dallas

Paramount Network’s first scripted TV series, Yellowstone, stars Kevin Costner in a role that seems all-too-perfect for the two-time Academy Award winner. Taking place on the massive kind of ranch whose size matches its influence under the Big Sky of Montana.

Written and directed by the screenwriter of Hell or High Water and Sicario, Taylor Sheridan has put a spotlight directly on the ongoing debates of ranching from the past and present. These tense dynamics and situations play out in bold, explosive strokes.

In this sense, the audience is being treated to a movie-like experience.

Dallas + gritty realism = Yellowstone.

When the scenery is a character, that alone makes watching this TV show a worthwhile experience.

P.S. The occasional language starring the four-letter persuasion is not bleeped.

Making Space for New Stuff

What is the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) up to these days?

Whether 2001: A Space Odyssey, Apollo 13, Gravity, Interstellar, The Martian or the forthcoming First Man, Hollywood has piqued movie-going audiences into the vast realities and fantastical possibilities of space.

Sorry, a side note:

The older I get, the more I’m amused at the sheer simplicity of calling the ever-complex and unknown space “space.”

“What’s up there with the infinite stars, planets, moon, sun and all-around cosmic mystery?”

“Space.”

I digress. And so does NASA.

What highly-technical, mind-blowing innovations and life-altering journeys are being planned by NASA for this year and beyond?

Things…on a To-Do list.

Argentina Finally Arrived (AFA)

This is a peek into at what peak-Argentina can look like in the 2018 FIFA World Cup with its superstar Lionel Messi running on all cylinders.

(Click Play–“Watch this video on YouTube” because of FIFA TV stuff–return to Jimmy’s Daily Planet)

Lionel Messi’s Argentina pulled off a necessary 2-1 win against Nigeria today to advance out of Group D with top-finisher Croatia. While more impressive than its first two games, Argentina has a steep mountain to climb when they play tournament favorite France in the round of 16.

Will this same intensity continue for Messi and his teammates? Will France overwhelm an Argentinian squad that looks like it’s barely hanging on?

One thing’s for certain: France vs. Argentina will be a blockbuster match with stars everywhere.
