Grown Ups Also Dream of a Popcorn Volcano

With the past few records, Coldplay has been far less cold and much more play.

There are some bands that seem to have just the right song for us, almost tailor-made when we need it most. Perhaps that’s one of the many reasons why Coldplay is as highly-regarded as they are these days. The British quartet understand how to hit the exact right notes, both melodically and lyrically. While rock n’ roll is the greatest form of music, there are moments when the dial needs to be turned down with an emphasis on day dreaming and our imaginations (even though the latter can contribute to what’s driving us crazy).

Slowing things down and dreaming wildly to find those precious answers to those pressing questions, this time with a perspective far beyond any construct found within our known reality?

Scroll down&down for a much-needed escape this Tuesday.

Why not see the world this way?

Don’t give your imagination the cold shoulder.

Play.

It’s That Thing of When You Learn About Where Stefon Came From

This blog post has everything…

The greatest club promoter the world has ever known, Stefon, was the brainchild of SNL cast member/impressionist Bill Hader and SNL writer John Mulaney. As you would expect, the inception of this legendary character originated within the perfect storm of serendipity. Isn’t that the case with some of the best things in life?

For “Throwback Thursday,” let’s reminisce about the phenomenon that is Stefon.

(If it feels right, feel free to hold your hands up to your face and laugh)

Now, it’s time to hear from the writing guru who was the wordsmith behind the club promoter who loves rooms with broken glass.

I am looking for a Halloween party to hit up later this month…

Stay tuned tomorrow for a vintage weekend update.

Happy Monday!

These nice guys just may finish first.

The forthcoming buddy comedy event of the year, The Nice Guys, starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling, hits theaters on May 20th. This movie’s marketing strategy was the focus of a blog last week, Hey Girl, Here’s the Story. Virtually every big movie the past few years have included an initial teaser trailer and then two to three more trailers after that before the movie even comes out.

What’s distinguishing The Nice Guys is that while there are multiple trailers for the movie, they are simultaneously producing and releasing clever behind-the-scenes videos that creatively builds hype. The sense is that the actors genuinely had a great experience making the film and that they can laugh at themselves and have a great time along with everybody else.

This advertising/marketing campaign is pure fun, just like the movie that takes us back to 1977 Los Angeles.

And in this trailer, that’s literally the case.

That ’70s movie looks tight.

Have a Nice Week!

Happy Pi Day!

What do you get when you mix sand and pie?

Wait, not that pie. A different kind of a pi. A less tasty, but mathematically delicious pi.

Mathematically speaking, today is when everything in your life will come full circle

Have a Fun Week That Ranks Somewhere Between a 3 and a 4!
