Happy Tuesday!

In honor of, “Girl Meets World” being greenlit by the Disney Channel for 2014, I happily present a clip from, “Boy Meets World” that will bring joy to the masses, especially for those who are experiencing the dreadful workweek when Monday knocks twice. The two minutes spent down nostalgia lane will certainly help!

To the man/character who would become known as the infinitely wise, “Plays with Squirrels,” you’re on!

A Resurgent Glow from a Golden Era

It is being widely reported today that, “Girl Meets World,” the spin-off series to the Millenial ’90s favorite, “Boy Meets World,” has officially been greenlit, according to Yahoo TV’s Kelly Woo’s article, “‘Girl Meets World’ Is Officially Happening! Disney Channel Orders Series.”

Yahoo! TV/Eric McCandless/DISNEY CHANNEL – Ben Savage, Danielle Fishel, Rowan Blanchard, and Sabrina Carpenter in the series premiere of Disney Channel’s “Girl Meets World.”

The purpose of the post is first to celebrate this momentous occasion!

Second, take a close look at the picture above. The best friends hugging is nice, as is Cory’s/Mr. Matthew’s reflective contemplation of his daughter’s best friend dynamic (Cory and Shawn…Cory and Shawn…) from the eyes of a parent.

This show is going to be a fascinating journey (FYI – This is the point where each of us does, “The Fenny Call”)!

However, the best part of the screen shot is the look on Topanga’s/Mrs. Matthew’s face. Her heartfelt glare towards the love of her life (Monkey bars!) transcends whatever is happening in this scene and encapsulates the return of the cool-family friendly-TGIF show from the ’90s.

The return of wholesome, cleverly written and wonderfully acted television with pertinent subject matters and important life lessons will arrive soon enough. 2014 will see the return of Cory, Topanga and Mr. Feeny (at least in the pilot). Perhaps a cameo from Shawn? Plays with Squirrels…?

Even if it’s just one show, turning on any spotlight to shine greatness starts with a glow.

P.S. Girls of America: Turn off the “Real Housewives” of wherever and start doing your video research on the beautifully intelligent and independent (with a healthy side of weird) Topanga.

It’s a Super Monday!

Today is a special, super Monday!

Experiencing the return of the, “Man of Steel” on an epic IMAX screen was the perfect stage for this character’s epic re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere from Planet Krypton.

As a result of our spoiler-happy culture, I purposefully avoided search engine terms such as, “Man of Steel,” “Henry Cavill,” “Amy Adams” and anything related to this movie for the past couple weeks. The internet has no filter. However, it’s apparently been a well-known fact that a sequel has been in the works for some time now. Still, I wanted to know as little as possible before watching 2013s, “Man of Steel.”

This new development (for me anyways) definitely changes some of the dynamics and reflections for, “Man of Steel.”

The confirmation of a sequel with writer David Goyer instantly put, “Man of Steel” into a new perspective (like “Batman Begins”) concerning Clark Kent/Superman’s character arc. Realizing this, “Man of Steel” represents more of an origin story and a damn good one at that!

And as mentioned in an earlier post, the chemistry between Super- the Man of Steel and Lois Lane, which is a pivotal relationship, was engaging, palpable and entertaining.

The countdown has begun for the Super Sequel!

P.S. Go See, “Man of Steel!”

The Epic Renaissance of the “Man of Steel”

“One day, you’re gonna have to make a choice. You have decide what kind of man you want to grow up to be. … Whoever that man is, good character or bad, is gonna change the world.”
–Mr. Kent

“You will give the people an ideal to strive towards. They’ll race behind you, they will stumble. They will fall. … But in time, they will join you in the sun. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders.”
–Jor-El

It’s a bird! It’s a Plane! It’s Super-I mean, It’s the Man of Steel!

The day has arrived when the superhero of all superheroes will again appear as a heroic savior from the skies. As the description the late Jay Morton coined reads, he’s, “faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.” The, “man of steel” will attempt to protect the people of Earth from General Zod and his army while wearing a modernized (by Kryptonian standards) blue suit with a red cape, donning the most famously symbolic “S” ever known.

How will fans react to Henry Cavill’s adaptation? Was he up to this enormous challenge?

Music is a vitally important partner to any television show or movie featuring Superman. The opening few seconds of John Williams’ score for the 1978 motion picture is definitively beautiful as it sets the stage for a grand journey. Hans Zimmer, a composing mastermind and movie soundtrack maestro, put his orchestral talents to work to create the right sound that had to be, quite literally, super!

In the short video below, Zimmer describes a new listening technology he helped develop when he composed the, “Man of Steel” soundtrack.

Innovative- Brilliant-Wow!

Did Zimmer write a new, modern anthem or score that will overtake the iconic, “Superman” soundtrack by John Williams? No, because that task is essentially impossible. However, as the music from the multiple trailers and his past movie scores have indicated, the new soundtrack will undoubtedly be epic. That’s an investment you can take to the bank.

Will, “Man of Steel” be as epic as the soundtrack? Will Kal-El fly off the screen without the assistance of 3D glasses?

June 14, 2013: The time has come to buy the tickets and watch the greatest superhero of all-time grow up in confusing wonderment on a strange planet, somehow meet Lois Lane and then battle the powerfully evil General Zod and his destructive army.

As Jimmy’s Daily Planet’s current headline indicates, the expectations for this Super-I mean, “Man of Steel,” are epic.

Will we join him in the sun…?
