Hangin’ Out, Down the Street (Again!)
Apparently, the kids who were always “hangin’ out, down the street” together arranged a piano number this past Tuesday night at a quintessential LA pad to reminisce about those days from about a decade ago in real time and more than 30-40 years ago in sitcom time.
Clearly, the basement was just being renovated or something.
A reunion was groovy enough, but “the gang” decided to take it a few notes further…
The still photo above is evidence, as reported by a few of the former Point Place troublemakers, of a “That ’70s Show” sing-along to, you know…
The Awesome Power of “The Remote”
Last night, another episode of “The Goldbergs” again solidified the fact that there is at least one reason to look forward to Tuesday night entertainment (9:00 p.m. EST). One of the plot lines focused on Beverly (the Mom) desperately wanting “snuggies” from her children, especially her youngest, Adam, because she knows he is her last chance at that kind of special Mother-Son/Daughter love.
Just like Barry’s dream of becoming the next Dr. J, time is running out…and fast!
Swish!
In an attempt to punish Adam for betraying her parental warning not to see “Poltergeist,” Beverly secretly scares Adam in exchange for daily “snuggies” from the terrified little rebel. One of her schemes included taking the remote control outside and messing with the television that Adam was watching in the family room one afternoon in a sudden state of total fright.
Well played, Beverly…well played.
This reminded me of a beloved commercial from not too long ago. It underscores why the remote (in whatever form) is such a treasured and valuable entity in our society for both men and women.
The remote: a parent’s secret weapon.
A Super Identity
Today is a special occasion for Jimmy’s Daily Planet: The Superman of Blogs.
This afternoon, I will order my new license plate and it will stand for “Truth, Justice and the American Way.”
I am proud to announce that my home state of Ohio, where Superman was created eighty years ago in a community outside Cleveland by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, has officially released a Superman-themed license plate to the public!
This is an absolutely amazing achievement and it reveals what a treasured and iconic superhero Superman remains to this day. This legislative success cements that Superman has flown not only into our hearts and imaginations, but also into our daily lives outside of the glistening city of Metropolis.
This outstanding accomplishment was the result of bipartisan work by State Representative Bill Patmon (D-Cleveland) and Ohio Senator Tom Patton (R-Strongsville).
This bipartisan partnership is definitive proof of the greatness that can transpire when Democrats and Republicans work together.
Talk about a super job we can all celebrate.
Thank You!
