The Real Deep Blue Sea

It seems as if Steven Spielberg’s defining summer blockbuster Jaws may have had more than just a toe dipped in the water involving the true events that inspired his film.

As people’s bravery increases simultaneously with the improved strength of metal cages designed for underwater hovering, their terrifying interactions with giant sharks reveal new discoveries about the aggressive, yet surprisingly tranquil super predators of the ocean.

Brand new footage of the largest shark ever recorded on video from a dive off the Mexican coast in 2013 was just released to the public. Her name is Deep Blue.

Deep Blue’s size is so colossal that it begs the question as to whether Spielberg and Co. built a new animatronic shark and let it loose in the waters off Guadalupe Island. This great white is suspected to be about 50 years-old and is estimated to be at least 20 feet long.

In the movie Jaws, the monster shark measured at around 25 feet.

It’s been 40 years and we still need a bigger boat.

The Honeymoon at Comic-Con

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will premiere on September 8th on CBS.

Colbert will officially become the network’s new late night king nearly four months after David Letterman retired. With Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel doing well at NBC and ABC respectively, Colbert will need to make a defining splash in his first show. In terms of star power, it would be a challenge to land a bigger star. He was a Letterman favorite, so it makes some sense.

At least we know Mr. Clooney will bring some interesting anecdotes.

At least he’ll never have to apologize for his storytelling prowess.

Happy Monday!

This is Italy’s Call

What do you get when 1,000 random Italian musicians collaborate together to play and sing “Learn to Fly” by the Foo Fighters in perfect harmony in an effort to get said band to play a show in Cesena, Italy?

I’m glad you’re curious.

That video was rock n’ roll and the Foo Fighters are rock n’ roll. Dave Grohl is currently playing shows with a broken leg, so I think it’s safe to say that this dream will become a reality.

In the meantime, thank you Italy for showing the world the best of you.
