The Key to Nostalgia

The following video clip justifies why “Throwback Thursday” exists.

Masters of the Universe features worlds from other dimensions, the epic battle of good vs. evil, exciting action and a cast that includes Dolph Lundgren (He-Man), Frank Langella (Skeletor) and the fresh-faced 23-year-old Courteney Cox (Julie Winston).

After helping shape the world of Asgard, “Thor” scribe Christopher Yost is now ready to head to Eternia to help He-Man return to the bigscreen.

Sony Pictures and Escape Artists have tapped Yost to do a rewrite on its reboot of “Masters of the Universe.”

The major motion picture Masters of the Universe (believe it or not) from the ’80s set a very high bar for the current reboot to reach towards.

It defined this story and characters for entire generations.

This is a treasured franchise and the movie did essentially everything right for the time it was written and produced. Its clever adaptation, perfect settings, optimistic innocence, danger in the form of shooting lasers and a floating throne and the casting of known and unknown actors and actresses are just a few reasons why this film is an important superhero classic.

As your blogging friend, I highly-recommend this movie from a past dimension/1987!

My Captain America

Sometimes, we need to go through a little transformation.

For some, there may just be a tiny thing wrong (through no fault of their own) that needs fixing by way of a major procedure. Without divulging too much information, somebody I love is getting open-heart surgery today (which is strange because this person has one of the best hearts I know!). It’s difficult to grasp this situation, but the best doctor is leading the surgery, so that’s somewhat calming.

Still, it’s surreal to contemplate.

This person’s favorite superhero is Captain America. For those who have seen the major motion picture Captain America: The First Avenger, one of the most memorable scenes is when Steve Rogers undergoes a major procedure that transforms him into the iconic, aforementioned American hero.

Here is that scene:

As it turns out, the person getting surgery today and Captain America have a few things in common, like the fact that they will both be stronger inside and out as a result of their transformation. However, while most everyone else knows Captain America from the movies, for me (after today), when I hear or see Captain America, I won’t think of Chris Evans.

Praying everything works out perfectly for my Captain America.

Happy Monday!

While this Make-a-Wish/Gotham City transformation happened this past Friday in San Francisco, this story is the perfect way to start any day or week!

Happy Monday! The quote above says it all…

Happy Monday!

Most commercials are okay. However, there are certainly the occasional hits. Whether the spot highlights humor, heart, action or mystery, the best commercials bring a smile to our face.

I saw this Meijer commercial for the second time recently. It’s just a really nice message that should bring back memories for all of us of a moment in our youth when we had to have “that toy.” No matter the cost, we did whatever it took to get it from that glorious superhero aisle in the toy store.

Below is a testament to the inspirational and imaginative power of “The Man of Steel.”

Have a Super Week!
