Welcome to Jurassic World (Really)
Randomness is a mysterious, yet powerful force that can yield not much of anything. Or, it can produce something in the neighborhood of accidental brilliance.
Maybe (and hopefully), the following idea will somewhat resemble the latter.
While listening to the first few minutes of the Jurassic Park soundtrack at work on YouTube this morning, the perfectly composed instrumental by the legendary John Williams inspired a thought as crazily insane as a modern-day park on an island filled with dinosaurs brought back to life from 65 million years ago.
What about a new ride at Universal Studios Orlando called Jurassic World that would coincide with the release of the 4th installment of the popular movie franchise that let’s intrigued visitors starting at age 10 or 11 pick 1 of 3 levels to walk (and run!) through while being hunted and pursued by a variety of dinosaurs!?

Now that I have your attention, I’m sure you’re wondering this question:
How would it work?
Depending on the level of adventure (1=easy going with a surprise or two, 2=ready for an adventure with dramatic surprises and 3= a kitchen-caliber experience), the participant or small group of participants would be briefed on what task they need to accomplish in a 2-minute time period by a distressed character in the park. The technology would be a combination of animatronics and virtual reality, depending on the selected level and the viability of realism and operating such machines on a constantly rotating schedule. However, the environment, movie set surroundings and dramatic music would be perfectly authentic and real.
Contingent upon the level selected, each participant will or will not be equipped with a weapon to defend themselves. Plus, the experiences on each level would change after a certain amount of time as to keep people who come back more than once guessing and in suspense.
Any young children under a predetermined age by Universal officials would need to be accompanied or joined in their adventure by a parents(s)/uncle/aunt/grandparent/older brother or sister, etc.
This is only an initial suggestion that would require countless variables to be considered and worked out (yes, more so than in the movie).
Regardless, would you get in line?
This personal/group thrill ride would take the existing Jurassic Park attraction in Orlando a step further by fully-injecting people inside Jurassic Park/World without the restriction of a car.
Fans would experience the world of Jurassic Park like never before.
Jurassic Park ushered in a new era of special effects for multiple generations of moviegoers and fans, so it seems only fitting that Jurassic World also usher in a new era of special effects for multiple generations of moviegoers and fans.
It would be an experience only John Hammond would/did dream of…
Jurassic World: will you get into it?
Finding That Killer Instinct
“I got soul, but I’m not a soldier”
The power of the written word as expressed though music is completely unsurprising. Not a new revelation at all, but this obvious observation does not diminish the inspiring and revealing nature of a perfectly-crafted phrase sung for, to and from the heart.
As a talking camel strutting through a busy American office would ask right about now, “guess what day it is?”
Wednesday is the most confusing day of the week. It’s not near the beginning (uggh) or near the end (yay!), but smack down in the middle. Thankfully, that song lyric above is the quintessential answer to this mid-week dilemma. Monday and Tuesday, yes, we are relentless “soldiers” for our jobs and our companies. However, once the first sign of light starts to break on the horizon over that tall stack of papers (literal or figurative), that warm, comforting glow is a guiding force that we again need to embrace our adventurous and random side for the end of the week and of the weekend ahead.
Below is a list of 7 things to do today or this evening as a reminder that “I got soul, but I’m not a soldier.”
Here we go:
- Go to a local farmer’s market and buy food you’ve never cooked before and try your hand at it
- Break out into a dance with a friend/friends on a street or walkway with people around for 10 seconds
- Blast music from your car (sans profanity or vulgar material) with entertaining bravado
- Sit outside on a park bench (weather permitting) and read a good book
- Always, always read and spread the awesomeness of Jimmy’s Daily Planet!!
- Go to a bar in a nice restaurant and secretly pay the tab of a couple in love
- Watch the abridged video below for visual motivation from the killer source of this post
After all, isn’t it about ‘all these things that we’ve done’?
The Best Way to ‘Survive’
Sometimes, we need to mix things up a little bit and drop a few beats (and moves) of fun randomness into our lives. Thursdays have come to be known as much more than just the day before Friday, but as a celebration of nostalgia.
Ladies and gentlemen, with everything going on in our day-to day jobs and lives, here is a throwback of awesomeness on this beautiful Thursday.
It’s okay if you’re afraid to watch what’s in the video clip below…but hopefully only at first…
Happy Throwback Thursday!
Giving Picture-Taking Advice to Steven Spielberg
This Sunday night, Ellen DeGeneres will host the 86th Academy Awards from Hollywood with approximately (give or take a few people) a billion people (with a “b”) watching from all around the world. With this being her second time hosting this prestigious event, Ellen is well-versed in what the tone should be, as well as the critical opportunities to grab and (hopefully) maintain the attention of nearly a billion people throughout the exhausting, time-consuming ceremony.
Speaking of exhausting and time-consuming…
A speech is a speech is a speech.
If viewers are lucky, one of their favorite actors, actresses, writers and/or directors will win the life-altering award and provide a refreshingly clever, entertaining and memorable acceptance speech (think Sandra Bullock and Adrien Brody, as just two examples).
Plus, perhaps Ellen will provide the viewers with a random minute or two of something refreshingly clever, entertaining and surprisingly memorable…
Ellen to Steven Spielberg taking a picture: “Make sure we’re both in Steven” & “Make it more even on both sides.”
