Princess of Pop (Culture)?

Her dad was the “King of Pop” and Wendy’s does serve pop (or soda) at their restaurants…

Paris Jackson is the daughter of the late Michael Jackson. He wrote some songs, danced a little and wore a red leather jacket. Anyways, Paris has understandably stayed away from the spotlight for most of her life. Most of all immediately following the death of her father. But now she seems to be stepping out into the public arena through acting, modeling…

and maybe singing?

While Paris Jackson recently admitted to Jimmy Fallon that she writes songs in private, there doesn’t seem to be any burning desire for her to step onto the biggest musical stage. However, if a certain fast food chain was savvy and paying close attention, they would get Ms. Jackson’s agent on the phone ASAP and collaborate with her on a potential commercial and viral marketing campaign.

Just human nature to put two and two together.

Got Ketchup?

There are people who say TV will rot your brain…

but not the people who work at Heinz.

The AMC series Mad Men had a loyal following throughout its seven seasons. The show depicted the “mad men” era of advertising and its distinguishing characteristic was the slowed-down (borderline glacial) pace that was intended to accurately depict the real-time lives of their characters inside New York’s advertising world. Some of the scenes were engaging. Some of the scenes were less than engaging.

Incredibly, one of the engaging scenes from this fictional show appears to have inspired a real condiment company.

Could this be the next “got milk?” kind of ad campaign?

That story is mad cool.

(In the sentence above, the word “mad” is a substitute for the word “really.” As in those new Heinz commercials are really happening and nobody will be mad about it).

This Just Popped in My Head (& Microwave)

The day has finally arrived….

It’s National Popcorn Day!

As a lifelong popcorn eater, this holiday (well, it really should be) rises high on the list of the non-major celebratory occasions during the year. Whether served hot with movie theater-style butter and a sprinkle of salt or a complex combination of seasonings, popcorn is simply the best snack food. However, there are a few things that I don’t even know about this magical food.

It’s time to get schooled (but in a good way).

Fact #11: I still hate to share popcorn.

Harsh? Perhaps. And yes, this is the same snack food that is one of the lowest cost and most accessible on the market.

But popcorn is literally that delicious.

This Story is a Kroc

Before a brand can become a brand that everyone knows and loves, it needs something:

A founder.

Everybody knows about McDonald’s. Most people are probably aware of the name Ray Kroc and his association with McDonald’s. However, very few people likely know the incredible story of how a fast food joint became a global phenomenon.

Just as The Social Network is a film that highlights the brilliant happenstance of American ingenuity, so may The Founder. A trailer was just released for the new year with Michael Keaton starring as Ray Kroc, who is, you guessed it…

Building and managing a company is a complex undertaking inherent with infinite challenges (seen and unforeseen) that’s never as easy as people may imagine, despite a speedy drive-thru. Ensuring that all the moving pieces are functioning properly and are accounted for is akin to clockwork: Even one small malfunction can potentially jeopardize the entire operation. Back when McDonald’s was introducing its burgers and fries to the American public during the mid-1950s, there were probably as many reasons why this new restaurant should succeed as there were to why it should fail.

Someone needs to be a leader and determine how to transform a vision into a successful reality. The Founder looks like an entertaining true story with fascinating insight into how fast food (and even entire cultures) were changed forever by way of a daring American Dream.

I’ve gotta say…I’m lovin’ it so far.
