Rock Music’s Neighborhood Watch

Foo Fighters have a new song off their forthcoming album, “Concrete and Gold.” This equally rockin’ and catchy song is titled, “The Sky is a Neighborhood” and it was released by the band today, along with a very clever music video.

Enough said.

The Foo Fighters, after 23-years, still remain the pop-culture masters of imagining the most awesomely unique and entertaining music videos. You never forget their songs nor those defining accompanying music videos.

And that’s why the sky continues to be the limit for the Foo Fighters.

P.S. Those eyes in the music video simulating shining stars…stellar!

That ’70s Movie

May 25th, 1977.

On this day, 40 years ago, movie fans (equally excited and curious) flocked to theaters across the United States to see this new movie called Star Wars. The end result was the beginning of a cinematic revolution surpassed only by Steven Spielberg’s portfolio of brilliance and influence. While there are seemingly countless characters within the ever-expansive Star Wars universe, there’s one name that rises above the rest.

Thanks to “Heroes Fan Productions” on YouTube, Luke Skywalker has been given a great tribute to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope’s theatrical release.

It took 40 years to go from a far, far off world’s new hope to its last Jedi. Has any other movie character ever had that long of a dramatic shelf life?

Luke Skywalker is a cinematic force unlike any other.

P.S. Ever wonder what it was like for people when they first saw Star Wars back in 1977?

Das Engine of Life

Star Wars is part of us.

All of us.

On this Throwback Thursday, let’s recall that brilliant TV ad from Volkswagen that perfectly joined the forces of business and imagination.

That cool, original one-minute story conceptualized by the advertising team at Volkswagen achieved something that far exceeded the normal expectations of a TV commercial. And that was suspension of belief with a tether that was surprisingly tied to reality. Above all, the TV ad above showcases the necessity and power of creative storytelling. Telling a story, however seemingly other-worldly is one of the most important things in life and it connects us to each other in profound, sometimes unexpected ways.

Just ask any Star Wars fan (excluding Episodes I-III).

Arrr You For Real?

Few places on Earth can bring movie magic to life like Disneyland.

Exhibit A: Johnny Depp Captain Jack Sparrow.

That Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland with the always imaginative character actor Johnny Depp was an unforgettable experience sparked by an idea that’s nothing short of genius. And it’s genuinely refreshing when an actor embraces his fantastical character as much as the fans.

In three words: Cinematic marketing gold.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales premieres in theaters on May 26, 2017.
