Happy Monday!
If this 2013 ‘Man of Steel’ teaser trailer doesn’t inspire you, then I don’t know what will.
Now go ahead and hit PLAY again.
Have a Better (& More Super) Week Than Last Week.
A Sequel With a Capital ‘S’?
In the superhero-saturated era in which DC and Marvel are actively competing over cinematic world domination–no hyperbole–there are certain characters that resonate far beyond the walls of dark movie theaters, as well as reviews on Rotten Tomatoes before opening weekend. There are some superheroes that represent something bigger and something profound.
Thankfully, a real person who portrays one of these fictional superheroes understands this critically powerful reality during a recent interview whilst promoting Mission: Impossible – Fallout.
The rumor mill will continue to run as to whether there will be or when the world will see a direct ‘Man of Steel’ sequel. Having said that, Henry Cavill speaking publicly in support of a follow-up film with Clark Kent disposition is great news.
This 2013 film starring Henry Cavill as the title character had a Christopher Reeve-esque final scene accompanied by an exhilarating Hans Zimmer composition. It’s my belief that a ‘Man of Steel’ sequel in the spirit to the one envisioned by Mr. Cavill in the video above is precisely what is needed–and what has been expected–for several generations of Superman fans.
Coupled with the success of ‘Wonder Woman,’ a ‘Man of Steel’ sequel would genuinely help redefine what uplifting superhero movies can and should be in the modern era.
Tales from the Krypt
Coming to your favorite blog near you (as fast as a speeding bullet) is the first trailer for the new TV series Krypton.
One of the leading creative minds behind Christopher Nolan’s highly-acclaimed Dark Knight trilogy, writer David S. Goyer, is the executive producer on Krypton. This pre-Superman planetary vision looks intriguing and surprisingly impressive, particularly for TV. Recall that SYFY is the network that has given the world the admittedly and proudly campy Sharknado movie series. Moreover, Krypton will have the added challenge of keeping audiences happy with and interested in the evolving Superman story in relation to the major motion pictures. The Man of Steel sequel continues to be pushed further into the unknown future, but Krypton success could help move the needle for a release date to sooner rather than later. We will keep our fingers crossed.
After all, the “S” stands for hope, right?
Krypton will premiere on SYFY on March 21.
Happy Monday
The first silver screen movie starring Wonder Woman is, yes, doing wonderfully with audiences and critics alike.
Actually, to be blunt, Wonder Woman is kicking some serious ass in movie theaters across the country world!
“With $100.5 million in North America and an additional $122.5 million internationally, Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman can boast the biggest-ever opening weekend for a film directed by a woman, Variety reports.”
–Kaitlyn Tiffany, The Verge, June 5, 2017
Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman) was the scene stealer in 2016s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Ms. Gadot proved she could hang alongside Batman and Superman. Now, she is proving she can handle the big screen all by herself.
A super statement in more ways than one.
In Wonder Woman, Ms. Gadot shows off her skills and natural characteristics of a superhero capable of shining in the brightest cinematic spotlight and, more importantly, in the cultural spotlight for women and young girls. And to celebrate the historic opening weekend, let’s listen to the epic theme song for Wonder Woman written and produced by the brilliant musicial composer Hans Zimmer from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The specific title of the Wonder Woman theme above is, “Is She with You?”
No, she’s with all of us.
