Happy Monday
Stranger things are certainly happening in 2017.
But let’s not forget that weird events started occurring back in 1983…
The Screen Actors Guild spotlighted the nostalgic powerhouse Stranger Things as the winner of “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble” during last night’s ceremony. The Netflix show has been accurately described as Steven Spielberg meets Stephen King. Playing by the new rule of non-network TV (10-episode seasons released all at once), Stranger Things has captivated audiences (myself included) that a season 2 order was going to be a sure thing just weeks after Netflix watchers binge-watched all of season one’s hour long episodes.
And ladies and gentlemen, for any TV show, that’s an impressive feat.
While the award is nice (and yes, the speech by the show’s heroic Chief Hopper and Winona Rider’s wide-ranging facial expressions constructed the viral highlight of the night for the Netflix sensation), let’s celebrate the overall awesomeness of Stranger Things by seeing and listening to portions of the show’s incredible synthesized soundtrack…
as performed by three cello players.
Those string things are pretty cool.

Grown Ups Also Dream of a Popcorn Volcano
With the past few records, Coldplay has been far less cold and much more play.
There are some bands that seem to have just the right song for us, almost tailor-made when we need it most. Perhaps that’s one of the many reasons why Coldplay is as highly-regarded as they are these days. The British quartet understand how to hit the exact right notes, both melodically and lyrically. While rock n’ roll is the greatest form of music, there are moments when the dial needs to be turned down with an emphasis on day dreaming and our imaginations (even though the latter can contribute to what’s driving us crazy).
Slowing things down and dreaming wildly to find those precious answers to those pressing questions, this time with a perspective far beyond any construct found within our known reality?

Kansas, Revisited
Laughter is the best medicine…
especially when you have to deal with all that dust in the wind.
The Late Late Show host James Corden skipped “Carpool Karaoke” and instead teamed up with Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons for a musical homage in classic Kansas style (and then some hilarious ridiculousness). Mr. Corden, like Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon, continues to prove his prowess for singing-related skits. While there are plenty of musical groups today that deserve parody, it can be quite entertaining to flashback to an era some may have forgotten for a brief moment.
And Thursday seems like an appropriate day for such a flashback.
Notice any similarities with the real Kansas music video for their hit “Dust in the Wind”?

Seeing the World Like Kids
OneRepublic has given fans a view unlike any other.
“Kids,” the latest single of off OneRepublic’s newly released album “Oh My My” is fantastically addictive. The lyrics and the beat alone are enough to capture the imagination of the listener. And yet, the band from Denver, Colorado has, quite possibly, elevated the musical game to a height a mile high with this hit. The band released two seemingly identical musical videos for “Kids,” with the difference summarized in one word:
Experience.
The following version of “Kids” is three-wait for it-D! Yes, the music video is in 3-D with 360-degree flexibility for the viewer. It was filmed using the stat-of-the-art Nokia OZO Camera. Personalized storytelling/virtual reality, as evidenced by the OZO Camera, has the incredible potential to adapt the “choose your own ending” books to multi-media platforms for all genre’s of music, movies and TV. Not to mention our own recordings on our smartphones. The stage, whatever that is, reveals itself to be virtually everything within sight.
