Forget a Bow & Put a Bird on Season 8

What’s going on in Portland, Oregon? That’s a common question everyone asks on a Wednesday, right?

I’m actually not sure, other than it’s been raining quite a bit lately. However, in TV’s hilarious mirror-reflection of the famous hipster city, there are mixed feelings these days. And it’s all because of the attached letters “ia” at the end of Portland.

Series Finale Idea: End on a live-shot with the show’s stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein surrounded by their Portlandia crew at Portland staple Voodoo Doughnut biting into a delicious new sugary treat inspired by and named after the show.

Season 8 is Portlandia’s final season and will premiere tomorrow night on IFC at 10 p.m.

Happy Monday

Fred Armisen’s reluctant Portlandia driving character = All of us this morning.

Carrie Brownstein’s insistent Portlandia driving character = Our Monday alarm that officially starts the workweek.

Random Thought: I wonder if the name of the guy driving the Yugo was Hugo?

Have a Better Week Than Last Week.

P.S. In just a few short days, those tricky stop sign/right-of-way conundrums will be replaced by the open road of the weekend.

The Even More Unlimited and Extended Labor Day Blog Post

Hopefully, you had a nice, relaxing Labor Day.

Following a long holiday weekend, it can be laboring to return to the working grind. There are several (even countless) tasks that need to be sorted out on a Tuesday that puts on a rare mask and acts like a Monday, characterized by moments of exhaustion and stress.

And yet, because this workweek started on a Tuesday, there’s this feeling within us that it’s not really a Monday in approach and tendency. Despite the routine being similar to Monday, there’s an extra breath of relief because Wednesday is tomorrow…and then Thursday arrives…and then Friday is here before we know it!

Coming off a long holiday weekend, kicking off our weekly routine on a Tuesday gives us a bounce in our step. We don’t sweat (as many of) the small things. However, those ever-present Monday traits find subtle and bold ways of reminding us exactly what day it really is.

Like this.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is any Tuesday after a long holiday weekend.

From 30 Rock to Wordy Shock

The Blue Jean Committee is coming to a TV near you!

Impressionists Bill Hader and Fred Armisen, whose DNA includes the need to relentlessly escape into humorously absurd characters, as well as a ’70s slow rock band, have a brand new show with fellow SNL buddy Seth Meyers. The show is called Documentary Now! and it starts airing on the IFC Channel this Thursday at 10:00 p.m. What’s arguably more insane than their portrayals of well-known documentary filmmakers is that the series has already been renewed for seasons 2…and 3 before episode one has even premiered.

If crazy and ridiculous made a television show together, it would have some catching up to do to match the comedic duo of Hader and Armisen in their latest collaborative experiment.

Whether the show is a success like Armisen’s hilarious Portlandia is up in the air, but at least it will be documented.
