Happy Monday!
First off: Great job yesterday by the United States versus mighty Portugal. Literally except for the last seconds, it was one hell of an effort.
“I believe that we will win!”
The top two teams from Group A and Group B will advance to the round of 16 later this afternoon. While Group B already has the Netherlands and Chile advancing, their match at noon on ESPN will determine the #1 and #2 seeds for the next round. Group A will likely see Brazil control Cameroon and secure the #1 spot, but the Croatia v. Mexico game should be an absolute thriller for #2 in the group. However, if Cameroon plays inspired, they could potentially prevent Brazil from the #1 spot or from even advancing depending on the result from the Croatia v. Mexico game…
Bottom line: Group A’s matches will be exciting to watch on ESPN and ESPN2 at 4:00 p.m. ET.
While relaxing late last night watching television, I saw the scene below. It wasn’t the first time I had seen it, but it rang surprisingly true for this World Cup because it doesn’t always matter what teams or players are supposedly better or superior in certain skill-sets, but whether or not they win the big games when it counts.
Happy Monday and Congratulations Again to the San Antonio Spurs!
Creeping into the Week
Michael Keaton + TLC music references (but really – TLC music references?) = A multiplicity of laughs this Tuesday!
“Do me a favor…don’t go chasing waterfalls.”
When Batman speaks, we listen. It’s just meant to be.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Today, we will all gather around the dinner table of that brave soul who willingly volunteered to host Thanksgiving with our family and friends to give thanks for the many blessings in our lives. Feasts will overwhelm kitchens with each family’s special touch. This may pertain to cranberry sauce that is prepared beyond just shimmying it out of the can, potatoes with or without lumps or that special dessert from a family recipe with that quintessential whipped cream dollop.
Regardless of the shouting, screaming and crying (and don’t forget about the children), the varying successes and failures throughout today will perfectly define Thanksgiving for us all. But, when all the food is eaten, the dishes cleared (not yet cleaned, but cleared) and people’s adrenaline levels have subsided, then that special bonding moment can begin with either a visit to the movie theater or an in-home entertainment presentation.
From my family to yours, here’s a little insight (or appetizer if you will) to what really brings joy to our world (drum beat please!).
Don’t forget about those in-laws…
Happy Thanksgiving!
P.S. We all know the scene below is when we learned what it is in turkey that makes us drowsy:
Happy 36th Wedding Anniversary Mom & Dad!!
Thirty-six years ago today, my parents, Robert and Deborah, stood at the altar in St. Monica’s Parish in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin and declared their everlasting love to themselves, to their guests, as well as to the world.
Equipped with three children of their own, who are grown, they now play the part of grandparents to a strapping young lad in Garrett and a sweet darling in Ella. Having already survived three rounds (if you meet us, their kids, you’ll understand), they have been surprisingly anxious for rounds 4, 5 and beyond.
All we can say is, “God Bless Them!”
Plus a few other things…
They have loved us forever and have learned to survive,
especially when each of us started to drive
They have taken us to places all around this great world, including a few bars,
and maybe, someday, we’ll go to outer space with its infinite stars
From tests to plays to sporting events,
they helped with them all, which taught us what it means to be a Lentz
Through it all the past 36 years, they’ve been the best,
they are the best couple, that we’ll all firmly attest!
Now, it’s time to get down with your bad selves!!!
