Happy Monday!
First, Saturday, July 13th was my One-Year Anniversary on WordPress.com!!
Second, while I was watching the series debut of, “Hollywood Game Night” last Thursday evening on NBC, I was reminded of a remarkable trait in one of the celebrity contestants. Anyone who has ever watched and heard actress Lisa Kudrow laugh knows how amazing and utterly contagious it is once she gets going. Kudrow laughing will brighten anybody’s sad disposition or people with, “a case of the Mondays.”
Without further adieu, prepare to smile and laugh!
Have a Great Week Filled with Uncontrollable Laughter!
Rolling into a Dream
You toss and turn, roll over and flip pillows, but to no avail. In extreme cases, comforters need to be surrendered completely in the battle in order to win the larger war of getting a few precious uninterrupted moments of sleep.
At some point in our lives, we have had to share a bed. This could entail a family vacation with the ironclad pillow border, a head-to-feet deal like Charlie’s close knit family in, “Willy Wonka,” the “get off me you little fungus” gem from, “Christmas Vacation” or a newly married couple. Sleeping in the same bed can, at times, be an adventure mixed with karate and log rolling (just wait and see…).
Sleeping sounds easy enough, but it can require Navy Seal-like training with cat-like reflexes. One of the predominant elements to a good night’s rest is peace of mind. When you slip under the covers, are you prepared for anything and everything?
And as we all know, we never want to wake the other person up, so we must tread softly and with laser-like precision.
Happy Monday!
Last Friday evening, I strolled through the annual Columbus Arts Festival, which featured artists of all variations from all over the country (plus a couple international artists). Each artist’s booth was set-up like its own pop-up gallery, giving people a few seconds to glance in and either dedicate their time or simply walk by onto the neighboring collections.
I’m happy to say I struck gold with a painter from Chicago! She imaginatively brought bottles of red and white wine and its accompanying foods to life.
The Columbus Arts Festival is a great tradition in Columbus, just like the occasional visit to a museum. The opportunity to calmly observe, reflect, ponder and even show off some knowledge is a wonderful exercise of the mind.
Common protocol with most art is the notion that there is no one “right” answer. Although, with some art, as Hemingway might put it today, “if you have a good insight it’s because it is an honest insight.”
In Gil’s case, he knew the honest truth and therefore was absolutely right in his interpretation in the rarely seen, “art burn.”

“The physics is theoretical, but the fun is real”
The best television shows consistently demonstrate one commonality: the audience knows the cast is having fun and that they are actually friends off-camera. This post will examine one of these sitcoms.
As crazy as this reads, my Dad and I were actually at the taping of “The Big Bang Theory” pilot! Full disclosure: it was an amazing atmosphere, sitcom episode and, being candid, it felt like a hit from the very first scene that was shot in the waiting room where Sheldon & Leonard were waiting to make manly depos-…you get the picture. They ultimately bailed out, but this first impression of the characters was funny nonetheless.
In this first episode, the final scene comprised of the four guys and Penny driving out to dinner. Howard Wolowitz, the self-described Ladies Man, who can wish a woman “good shower” in a multitude of languages, was flirting with Penny by enticing the group to got to a karaoke bar. Wolowitz then proceeds to seductively, and humorously, serenade Penny. Penny is caught between a smile and a gentle laugh, genuinely amused by her co-star as Sheldon closes out the show with a quip about Leonard being a, “veritable Mack Daddy” in the car, directly referring to his long-shot chances of dating the beautiful girl next door. Penny then bursts into laughs from the back seat as the scene goes to black.
Comradery is special to see in any episode, let alone the pilot. Aside from the fact the first episode was great by regular standards, this quintet appeared to be onto something beyond just a pilot. This very funny show with its great characters enters Season 7 (already!?) this fall with Leonard returning to Pasadena and his girlfriend Penny from his career-changing voyage at sea with Stephen Hawking’s research team and with Raj finally able to speak to women without being intoxicated, which actually turned Amy into a bit of a drinker…this being a sips worth of red wine.
One guarantee is that if the cast is having fun, it’s very likely the audience is too.
The laughs in the upcoming seventh season are only four months away.
