Damn, Daniel!

You know how people say something isn’t true unless it’s true?

For example, speculation has been that Daniel Craig would eventually return as the iconic 007 after a long break following the  Spectre. That’s been what many people (including myself) have believed to be true for quite some time, in our minds.

Well…

Damn, Daniel!

Apologies, Mr. Craig/James Bond/007.

This is amazing news. While Sean Connery will always be known as the greatest James Bond in cinematic history, Daniel Craig has given the Scotsman a serious run for his money. Partly because Daniel Craig has brought unrivaled modernity, realism and grit to the character. But also in part because Daniel Craig’s James Bond is a more complicated and conflicted character with a relatable (as relatable as 007 can be) emotional range to how a normal person would react and think beyond the flashy gadgets and unforgettable catchphrases.

So, it’s officially one more film for Daniel Craig as James Bond. And that’s exactly what 007 fans have been saying since Mr. Craig’s brilliant first-go as the British spy in Casino Royale back in 2006. And we’ll keep on saying it…one more film…one more film…one more film, please.

Just don’t ask Daniel Craig that one question two days after wrapping Bond 25 (title TBD).

P.S. Remember when “Damn, Daniel!” was a Snapchat craze?

The Evidence Was Sitting Right There

If a picture is worth a thousand words, how many words is the photo in the video below worth?

To many, the photograph’s value at the center of the following video is of historic value.

It may be safe to presume that this ground-breaking discovery, and subsequent documentary this weekend, will be an equal substitute to coffee this morning. The jolt that the photo presents in the video above, which is the focus of the newest speculation regarding Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan’s famously mysterious disappearance, could very well be enough to change history and give credence to stories that were, until now, just considered rumors.

While not 100% proof (how often is there ever 100% proof?), anyone with common sense will and should reach the conclusion that Amelia Earhart is sitting on the edge of the dock with her back to the camera in the aforementioned photograph with Fred Noonan nearby in Japanese territory.

Absolutely surreal.

Stay tuned for the full documentary premiering on the History Channel this Sunday at 9:00 p.m. ET.

Doesn’t this incredible revelation concerning Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan seem like the springboard for a future film by either Steven Spielberg, Kathryn Bigelow or Clint Eastwood? This recent photographic discovery and analysis is likely not the end of Amelia Earhart’s harrowing story, but instead just the beginning.

In this case, history isn’t so much repeating itself as providing the world the first reputable replay of a tragically mysterious event.

And that’s priceless.

Happy Monday

The first silver screen movie starring Wonder Woman is, yes, doing wonderfully with audiences and critics alike.

Actually, to be blunt, Wonder Woman is kicking some serious ass in movie theaters across the country world!

“With $100.5 million in North America and an additional $122.5 million internationally, Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman can boast the biggest-ever opening weekend for a film directed by a woman, Variety reports.”
–Kaitlyn Tiffany, The Verge, June 5, 2017

Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman) was the scene stealer in 2016s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Ms. Gadot proved she could hang alongside Batman and Superman. Now, she is proving she can handle the big screen all by herself.

A super statement in more ways than one.

In Wonder Woman, Ms. Gadot shows off her skills and natural characteristics of a superhero capable of shining in the brightest cinematic spotlight and, more importantly, in the cultural spotlight for women and young girls. And to celebrate the historic opening weekend, let’s listen to the epic theme song for Wonder Woman written and produced by the brilliant musicial composer Hans Zimmer from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The specific title of the Wonder Woman theme above is, “Is She with You?”

No, she’s with all of us.

Have a Better Week Than Last Week.

Gigant…Giganti…You Say It, Mr. Bloom

A small fish is okay, but a big fish is better.

To celebrate Throwback Thursday, it’s time to revisit the illustrious life of Mr. Edward Bloom from the book and film of the same name. For anyone who has seen the 2003 movie, Big Fish is a cinematic and storytelling masterpiece. Author Daniel Wallace reimagined the way we can (and should) perceive life.

Exhibit A:

Try and work in the word gigantificationism into normal conversation. That word is what you would call a big fish in a small (or large) pond.

Happy Throwback Thursday.
