Happy Throwback Thursday!

This is “Shark Week,” which has inspired today’s “Throwback Thursday.”

Sharks are powerfully majestic creatures, though we never want to be swimming in the ocean and see a fin hovering just above the water’s surface. But even as terrifying of a sight as that is, sometimes a story can have a similar effect. The video below is known as one of the greatest monologues in the history of cinema. The setting is rickety old boat, bobbing up and down in the middle of the ocean off the coast of a vacation town in the American northeast.

It’s real. It’s raw. It’s got a real bite to it.

Happy Kickback Thursday!

Tonight will see soccer juggernaut Bayern Munich battle Chivas Guadalajara in Red Bull Arena in New Jersey for a friendly as part of a mini United States tour for the German champions. While several of their key players are MIA after deep runs in Brazil (including World Cup glory for a few), there will undoubtedly be talent on the pitch this evening.

How do I know?

Well, I looked at the roster (which includes superstar in-the-making Julian Green) and because Bayern Munich’s coach is Pep Guardiola. Pep is a tactical maestro. Need proof? Recall that he was the architect of Barcelona’s recent historic run and the fact that he was two victories away in the Champions League from sweeping all titles during his freshman year (2013-2014) in Munich.

Since today is Thursday, it’s time for a throwback to the past. And today’s featured player is Pep Guardiola the player.

He had a pretty decent shot, wouldn’t you say?

By some strike of very good fortune/parents, I will be in Red Bull Arena cheering, “Go Bayern Munich!

Please Welcome Mr. Cumberland

How to make an entrance?

Walking into a room the right way can, in some instances, change your life forever. Most communication between people is non-verbal, therefore it’s essential to put out the right tone at all times. People are everywhere, which heightens the need to distinguish oneself from the pack. In some cases, this relates to romance and, in other situations, it’s all about the business at hand. Subsequently, introducing oneself into a new environment requires a suave quality from the school of George Clooney.

Today is Thursday, so the following clip is a throwback to a man who always knew how to make an entrance.

Plays with Squirrels Eric, take it away…

Kickin’ It on a Throwback Thursday

One of the great things about Thursday is that it serves as the preview to the impending weekend. Being in a good mood today can catapult you to the VIP section of the rooftop party without paying a cover charge. And getting these good vibrations (as the Beach Boys would say) can arise from something at work, at home or something completely random.

Whatever the cause, it’s welcomed with open arms and perhaps a dance move or two…

Scratch the “good vibrations” of the Beach Boys and think of some beats from Jay-Z to bounce to instead.

P.S. Bonus points if you got the music reference seen later in the movie!
