Just Need One Winning Ticket in the Lottery

Today has the potential to be game-changing, literally six years in the making.

These are the moments we work for during the workweek grind and on those beautiful Saturday mornings, afternoons and nights when everyone else is out having fun. Interestingly, for the past several years, the goal has remained the same. However, the chances of it coming to fruition has been a relentlessly nervi circumstance (thank you Ian Darke). Just like other valuable things in my life, I don’t want to make the mistake of getting too ahead of myself (it’s happened before with not so happy results).

But what if it really happens this time?

In that case, the celebration will paint the night sky like the 4th of July while I write the final words of a chapter never intended to extend beyond a brief rest between major chapters in my life. If all goes well (especially if the good news is told today), then I will feel like I just won a million dollars.

Speaking of which, that reminds me of a song by a band that sings the theme song to a sitcom in which the actors are currently requesting a million dollars per episode.

In the real and imagined world of having a million dollars, what would I do…?

Let’s revisit what the Barenaked Ladies think about this proposition:

The best thing is that “a million dollars” doesn’t literally have to be a million dollars.

It’s just that feeling of winning something so awesome that things start to fall into place with joyous, relieved precision.

What does a million dollars mean to you?

“Heroes in a Half Shell” with Some Serious Turtle Power

“Man, I love being a turtle!”

Recent movies (ie-The Lego Movie) and television shows (ie-Girl Meets World) that feature nostalgic stories and characters have made a point to make them appeal to a new generation of young fans, as well as bring back dedicated fans from the past generation known as Millennials. Not only does this kind of entertainment spark fond memories of playing with toys (cough: action figures), pretending to be superheroes with friends and reminiscing about the glory of TGIF, but it bridges a gap between those in our mid-to-late 20s and our young nephews, nieces and/or children of our own.

One such venture is the anticipated action flick Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from Transformers guru Michael Bay. The first trailer gave fans a glimpse at Donatello, LeonardoMichelangelo and Raphael and a small taste of the overarching story. However, the second trailer just released reveals the tone of the film and an entirely new level of action beneath the surface in the sewers of New York City.

An epic battle awaits everyone’s favorite turtles:

Get your best “Cowabunga!” ready for August 8th.

We Know Who We’re Gonna Call

June 7, 2014.

As surreal as the nearly-transparent floating spirits themselves, the cult classic Ghostbusters will officially celebrate its 30th anniversary of being released to the world and being permanently stored into pop culture history immediately thereafter. Names like Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler (RIP) and Winston Zeddemore will re-enter our consciousness as the coolest front-line defenders against all things ghastly and marshmallow-like.

Ever since the original and the sequel, visiting a library and a museum has never been the same…

And who could forget about the ECTO-1? Ignoring the relentless chaos that would ensue with the non-stop sirens going off and lights flashing from everyday citizens, but Cadillac could have skyrocketed its sales and boosted its reputation by building and selling the ECTO-1 to the public.

Just a thought.

This momentous occasion will continue throughout the year, but today is a good time to get a little jump-start on the festivities in true ’80s fashion:

(The following dialogue is courtesy of IMDb)

Dr Ray Stantz: You know, it just occurred to me that we really haven’t had a successful test of this equipment.

Dr. Egon Spengler: I blame myself.

Dr. Peter Venkman: So do I.

Dr Ray Stantz: Well, no sense in worrying about it now.

Dr. Peter Venkman: Why worry? Each one of us is carrying an unlicensed nuclear accelerator on his back.

The good old days, when we just did crazy stuff without filling out a silly waiver.

Memories…

Happy Monday!

Yesterday was not only the Star Wars holiday “May The 4th Be With You” Day, but it was also the birthday of a movie and fashion icon: the adorably beautiful and wonderfully quirky Audrey Hepburn.

She would have been 85 today.

Audrey Hepburn stole the hearts of countless men and was the admiration of countless women who were equally drawn to her infectiously playful spirit, impeccable style and infinitely illuminating smile and charm. Audrey Hepburn seemingly had it all, which she put on full-display in cinematic classics like Roman Holiday, Funny Face, How to Steal a MillionSabrina, My Fair Lady and Breakfast at Tiffany’s (to name only a few). The latter film, of course, inspired the 1995 song of the same name by the band Deep Blue Something.

Plus, don’t forget her Oscar win for Roman Holiday!

To pay a tribute to her today, below is a short video showcasing some of her most memorable moments from her most memorable role.

The illustrious Audrey Hepburn will live on forever, admired in the most classic and beautiful ways imaginable, as well as in the most fun and lovingly silly ways imaginable.

Just like her.

Happy Monday & Happy Belated Birthday Audrey Hepburn!
