Happy Monday!
Walking through the life and career of Abraham Lincoln at his presidential museum and home in Springfield, Illinois last Thursday was a thrill. Even with a solid understanding of his legacy, there was so much to learn and admire about this giant of American history. There was one exhibit set-up across the street that housed sets and costumes from Steven Spielberg’s 2012 movie Lincoln, starring Daniel Day-Lewis. The magic of film making combined with the defining power of President Lincoln created a great experience in addition to his impressive museum.
In the movie, there’s a particularly towering moment that captures Lincoln’s persuasive skill at getting tough things done, against all odds.

The Americans proved revenge is best served with a 5-2 win in the 2015 World Cup Final.
For the third time in their storied history, the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) lifted the most coveted trophy in their sport: the World Cup. The Americans absolutely blitzed the Japanese from kickoff with four goals in the first 16 minutes of action, including Carli Lloyd’s hat trick. This shocking start was sublime for fans of the red, white and blue. Two-nil is firmly established as the worst lead in soccer, but the USWNT only gave their opponents a nine minute window to respond, which they dominated with superior possession, defensive prowess and more sensational goals. By the time you caught your breath, another highlight sequence ended up in the back of Japan’s net. And this game proved there was no shot too far-fetched, as Lloyd demonstrated in the 16th minute with a goal from half-field!
The 2015 World Cup Final was an amazing showcase for an American side visibly motivated to avenge their loss to Japan in the championship game four years earlier. Winning their first World Cup in 16 years in the shining sun of Vancouver was a fantastic sight for the USWNT, its coaches and fans. This generation of champions has inspired the next generation of soccer players with an unforgettable performance.
This game was the final big event of the 4th of July weekend and it was the perfect ending to our celebration of our nation’s declaration of independence 239 years ago and our relentless belief that anything is possible, which is a quintessential characteristic of the United States of America.

Happy Monday!
In the case of the British band below, a gang of wolves is a good thing.
Seeing Wolf Gang in that very same location (The Basement in Columbus, Ohio) last September, just 3 1/2 months after the video shows, they left a great impression because they have an original sound and they are fantastic live. This is their opener that gets everybody’s heart racing, which also plays well for kicking off the workweek.
Interestingly, they set-up and took down their own equipment. It was a refreshing sight and it’s just one of many reasons to see bands you like in small venues every once in a while. The energy is inspiring.
Have an Awesome Week!
Happy Monday!
This past Friday was heavy.
One my lifetime dreams came true just three days ago: I rode a real-life hoverboard! Donating to a Kickstarter campaign last year to Hendo Hoverboard, which is owned and operated by the hovering technology firm Arx Pax in Los Gatos, California, provided me the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do something in the realm of what Marty McFly did in Back to the Future Part II in the far-off 2015. The time spent trying to get control on this new gliding technology was a thrill and a learning experience. As I continue to try to upload pictures and footage of me riding the world’s first hoverboard, here’s that eternally cool clip we all love in the famously futuristic Hill Valley.
