Happy Monday
Something wonderful happened over the weekend, specifically this past Saturday.
If you are unfamiliar with the name Gal Gadot, don’t worry, because you will be well acquainted with her name and her otherworldly skills soon enough (in a matter of paragraphs). If you are familiar with the female heroine Wonder Woman, then this blog post will be a terrific way to start your week.
For the first time ever, Wonder Woman will be given the silver screen treatment on June 2nd of this year. About time, right? Thus far, director Patty Jenkins (a wonder woman herself), Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Comics have released a couple brilliant posters and a teaser trailer for this landmark film for the legendary female superhero. But this past Saturday, Wonder Woman fans were thrilled when the “origin” trailer was released online and through social media.
In a single word: Yes.
Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) is a name people (most especially countless girls and women) won’t forget.

Ladies and gentlemen, the 2017 Academy Awards ended (fittingly?) in ‘la la land.’
So, the movie that should have won and that people wanted to win (La La Land) lost to a movie that most people had, quite frankly, not even seen or barely knew about (Moonlight).
Sounds like most Academy Awards, doesn’t it?
My yearly analysis for Oscar winners and losers is that the Academy is right when they’re right and wrong when they’re wrong. Sure, that seems like common sense, but there’s more to it that presumed simplicity.
For example, the Academy was right to award Titanic the golden statue for best picture many moons ago and it was right to award Sandra Bullock the golden statue for best actress for her leading role in The Blind Side in 2010. Conversely, the Academy was wrong to award Slumdog Millionaire the best picture in 2009 and not even nominate The Dark Knight. Heath Ledger deservedly won a posthumous Oscar for his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight for one of the greatest acting performances in cinematic history, but the film as a whole is a revelation and a masterpiece and it was wrongly shafted and stripped of its Oscar moment for the film’s team and Batman fans everywhere.
Last night, the Academy was clearly wrong in fumbling the announcement for Best Picture. However, the Academy was right to clarify this mistake in real-time. As a result, the 89th Oscars will be defined by that painfully embarrassing moment and help Steve Harvey recover a little bit more quickly.
Random Advice: Maybe don’t hire Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway as editors of the obituary section of a newspaper.

Happy President’s Day
The precedent was set long ago to honor our nation’s presidents in February.
Imagining life back in the late 1700s when the country that became known as the United States of America was at its inception can be an overwhelming exercise. Overwhelming, yes, but even more so an amazing reflection to partake. The first president, George Washington, took office back in 1789. How far this nation has come is extraordinary. And throughout history, the American people have elected a few great presidents, many good presidents and some not-so-great presidents.
It’s the opinion of Jimmy’s Daily Planet that Americans experience one truly great president about once every one century. Thus far, this list (in chronological order) consists of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan. Remember, this list is for Americans presidents that were “next-level” leaders, gentlemen and visionaries.
Speaking of someone who is “next-level” smart when it comes to American presidents…
We should all have the enthusiasm for knowledge as the young Macey Hensley.
