Ready to See the Future?

You’re not seeing things:

Steven Spielberg is now a hologram.

Part of the story in Ready Player One is the exploration of the line between reality and virtual reality (VR) in society in 2045, centered in Columbus, Ohio. Rest assured that this blog won’t just reveal spoilers for film and TV without a bold, unmistakable disclaimer. For this specific blog post, have no worries as there are no film or story spoilers here.

Having said that, the special hologram version of Mr. Spielberg is the latest spotlight of the continued blurring of lines between reality and virtual reality that’s existed in various forms for some time now. This cool tech in the video above–also utilized in the original Star Wars trilogy from back in the ’70s and ’80s with Princess Leia–is an example of VR that can live harmlessly in reality.

Bonus points coins would’ve been given to Steven Spielberg and the team at IMAX if they could’ve created and then broadcasted the beloved storyteller’s avatar that would live in the Oasis.

Oh well.

BTW – If you have not seen Ready Player One directed by legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg in theaters on the biggest screen possible, then you should probably get on that ASAP with IMAX.

Perfect Friends

Will Smith + Jimmy Fallon in a sing-along =

This Tonight Show segment just took “Flashback Friday” to the next-level. And these two buddies may have inadvertently created a new sitcom in a matter of minutes by simply singing together:

Perfect Friends.

Thankfully, Will Smith and Jimmy Fallon aren’t strangers. If they were, the “History of TV Theme Songs” would have never happened.

But they are friends, pals, and even a confidant when needed.

#MassiveCrew

The past week has been very difficult for Columbus Crew fans. And tonight, the Crew traveled down to Georgia to play Atlanta United for the opening game of the Eastern Conference playoffs inside the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on artificial turf.

Let’s not get started on the turf issue in the year 2017…

Much has been said about the #SaveTheCrew movement in recent days, locally and nationally, as should be the case. However, right now, actions really can speak louder than words.

That is what a massive COLUMBUS Crew can do on national television with their backs completely against the wall, put there by Anthony Precourt and Don Garber’s MLS. The Columbus Crew will host the first leg of the MLS Cup Eastern Conference Semifinal against New York City FC on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at 8:00 p.m. on ESPN.

Driving Mister Foo Fighters

When you’re singing in the car (admit it, we all do it), we feel like a rock star. Our voice is in perfect pitch and we begin to ponder whether we missed out on our true calling in life.

We feel, in so any words, like we’re flying.

And then that moment happens when the song suddenly ends and we hear the remnants of what was really a bit of, shall we say, a musical disaster. It’s at this point that our balloon of rock stardom is popped and we appreciate the skill actual musicians and bands possess. However, we have to keep on driving.

If only an entire rock band would sit and sing in the car with us…

The Foo Fighters have a way of getting the best out of us in all kinds of life’s moments.

We feel, in so many words, like we’re always learning to fly.
