Happy Throwback Thursday!
It’s Thursday. Therefore, it’s time to throw it back for some fun:
Perfect word play!
“Heroes in a Half Shell” with Some Serious Turtle Power
“Man, I love being a turtle!”
Recent movies (ie-The Lego Movie) and television shows (ie-Girl Meets World) that feature nostalgic stories and characters have made a point to make them appeal to a new generation of young fans, as well as bring back dedicated fans from the past generation known as Millennials. Not only does this kind of entertainment spark fond memories of playing with toys (cough: action figures), pretending to be superheroes with friends and reminiscing about the glory of TGIF, but it bridges a gap between those in our mid-to-late 20s and our young nephews, nieces and/or children of our own.
One such venture is the anticipated action flick Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from Transformers guru Michael Bay. The first trailer gave fans a glimpse at Donatello, Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael and a small taste of the overarching story. However, the second trailer just released reveals the tone of the film and an entirely new level of action beneath the surface in the sewers of New York City.
An epic battle awaits everyone’s favorite turtles:

A Blog 400 Posts in the Making
This is the 400th blog post on Jimmy’s Daily Planet!
It’s surreal to contemplate where this blog began and it’s surreal to imagine where this blog will continue to go in the future.
A sincere thank you to all who read it!
There are countless things to write about and reflect on for what’s to come post-400. However, after being guided to a behind-the-scenes look at 2015’s much-anticipated Jurassic World starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard by a loyal reader, embedding the following music clip just seemed right on this special occasion.
It is my honor to present to you a beloved John Williams masterpiece from my favorite movie of all-time:
“Life finds a way…”
Happy Monday!
First off: Great job yesterday by the United States versus mighty Portugal. Literally except for the last seconds, it was one hell of an effort.
“I believe that we will win!”
The top two teams from Group A and Group B will advance to the round of 16 later this afternoon. While Group B already has the Netherlands and Chile advancing, their match at noon on ESPN will determine the #1 and #2 seeds for the next round. Group A will likely see Brazil control Cameroon and secure the #1 spot, but the Croatia v. Mexico game should be an absolute thriller for #2 in the group. However, if Cameroon plays inspired, they could potentially prevent Brazil from the #1 spot or from even advancing depending on the result from the Croatia v. Mexico game…
Bottom line: Group A’s matches will be exciting to watch on ESPN and ESPN2 at 4:00 p.m. ET.
While relaxing late last night watching television, I saw the scene below. It wasn’t the first time I had seen it, but it rang surprisingly true for this World Cup because it doesn’t always matter what teams or players are supposedly better or superior in certain skill-sets, but whether or not they win the big games when it counts.
Happy Monday and Congratulations Again to the San Antonio Spurs!
