Thursday With a Throwback on the Side

It’s Thursday, which means it’s socially acceptable (and encouraged) to reflect back on yesteryear. Better yet, today is ideal for a “throwback” to something funny and then posting it to our social media channels and website (if applicable).

Step 1: Find something funny. Check.

Step 2: Write an informative and humorous opening introduction for the aforementioned “something funny.” Check…?

Step 3: Enjoy!

To be fair, a chocolate chip granola bar is the best type of granola bar.

13 Minutes in the Abyss

Incredible. Terrifying. Breathtaking.

Allow yourself to escape for just 13 minutes to watch freediver Guillaume Néry escape underwater into parts of various oceans most of us consider to be unknown territory in his short film ‘One Breath Around the World.’ If for nothing else, witness what fearful serenity looks like in this brand new project in concert with National Geographic that, once again, affirms its reputation of visually capturing the limits of what’s possible in new and daring ways.

In some circles, the belief is that perception can be more real than reality. A valid point. Does ‘One Breath Around the World’ challenge that notion?

If Guillaume Néry’s adventurous freediving into the various depths of the world’s oceans doesn’t get your heart racing with adrenaline and imagination for how you can apply his underwater explorations to your life, then I don’t know what will.

One thing I do know is that Mr. Néry may soon be receiving an offer to join Jason Momoa in the ‘Aquaman’ sequel.

RIP Ramsey

Once the tears started…

Throughout the past decade, I spent countless hours walking, running, talking and just having fun with Ramsey, who was my oldest sister’s white Maltipoo that lived a towering 13.5 years and proved the “man’s best friend” adage true. His bouncy, boundless energy was infectious and having him jump up onto my lap and then petting him while he was calm as could be made me smile every time as did seeing him sprint to the door when he caught sight of people arriving.

That was Ramsey’s gift and he was so happy to give it to others. And Ramsey was a genuine hero and we made sure he knew and felt our gratitude for what he did in that specific instant.

Ramsey will be remembered as a happy dog that battled some tough health issues late in his life as best as he possibly could have. It was heartbreaking to see him struggle in these moments because there was little (if anything) we could do to help him. Above all, he was a comforting, joyful dog that showed affection and safeguarded the people he loved and those who loved him returned the favor.

Ramsey will be missed forever.

RIP Ramsey.

Happy Monday!

From beginning to end, Adam Sandler gave comedy fans a memorable performance as host of ‘Saturday Night Live.’

‘SNL’ great Adam Sandler hosted his former show for the first time this weekend. There were many, many ways — and by this, I mean characters — the writers and cast could have approached his long-awaited, triumphant return. Surprisingly, there weren’t too many throwbacks to characters from Adam Sandler’s glory days at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. But make no mistake, the return of Opera Man at Weekend Update, for instance, was funny in ways that only the Sandman could deliver.

From singing his opening monologue…

to singing as the iconic Opera Man…

and his emotional acoustic tribute to close the show…

Adam Sandler proved why he’s a still such a fan favorite after all of the years as he combines humor with heart in pointed yet good-natured punchlines.

And while NBC’s timing and rationale for Adam Sandler’s firing (along with Chris Farley and Chris Rock) still makes absolutely no sense, NBC’s timing and rationale for bringing Adam Sandler back to ‘SNL’ — sparked by the success of his Netflix stand-up special titled ‘Adam Sandler: 100% Fresh’ — were pitch-perfect.

Have a Better Week Than Last Week.
