X Marks the (To Be) Bought?

Have you ever seen a shinier apple Apple in your life?

Whoa!

In a phrase, the iPhone X looks, “insanely great.”

Apple’s major product advancements yesterday, most notably its iPhone X (not the letter, but the number) ended with a surprising bang. And, in doing so, with a rather curious statement. At around $1,000 (monthly payments are available) for the iPhone X, Apple is celebrating its 10th iPhone anniversary with a serious question of not what the phone can do (seems incredible), but rather who they envision paying for this phone?

Next month and, equally important, in the years and many subsequent models to follow.

A $1,000 floor, not ceiling, is a gutsy price (although, give ’em that its a simplistic price tag, in quintessential Apple style) to determine if an Apple smartphone will be affordable. Akin to high-definition TVs with all the bells and whistles (in some cases, literally), too high of a starting price could, well, price out major portions of its valued market. Will that hurt its profit margin? Who knows. But, it might damage something the tech giant holds just as dear as a defining part of its amazingly successful brand…

Part of the legacy of the late Steve Jobs is that he put/led his team’s effort to put 1,000, 10,000 and x number of songs in our pockets, along with a smartphone that’s literally a handheld supercomputer for each of us to define ourselves. Interestingly, yesterday’s exciting presentation (new iPhones, Apple Watches, etc.) took place center stage in the new Steve Jobs Theater at Apple’s new spaceship campus. However, what would Steve Jobs say about the $1,000 price tag?

Hmmm…

How many of Apple’s x -umber of consumers will say the iPhone X is insanely great?

How many of Apple’s x-number of consumers will say the price of the iPhone X is insane…great?

A Star Only Shines After a Trek Through Many Wars

There may not be a more important word in the world of science-fiction than, “star.”

Exhibit A: The eternally epic debate of Star Trek vs. Star Wars.

Why bring this random piece of information up?

Glad you asked. You see, in life, it’s essential that we are overwhelmingly passionate about at least one thing. And the subject matter isn’t the critical part, but just that you care deeply about something. If you’re lucky, this passion will coincide with your job.

Exhibit B: Jordan Schlansky.

(Warning: There is a bleeped 4-letter word at the beginning and end of this video).

Advice: Put your head into the stars and dream big this week…and in life.

Live long and

“Do or do not. There is no try.”
-Yoda

Yeah, I’m a Star Wars fan.

Never Forget

Sixteen years have passed and yet that day will never fade from memory. And that goes for everyone who lived through the day that felt like the end of the world. While part of me wants to write endlessly about 9/11 recalling every detail and memory, the greater urge today has been to look back into the sky.

On September 11, 2001, I looked up into the clear blue September sky thinking how everything I knew had changed. A paralyzingly eerie feeling overwhelmed my entire body in this surreal gaze. And as a sophomore in high school, I was old enough to process what had happened. The tragedy of the day, with its heart-wrenching imagery, the heroism of the first responders and passengers on United 93 and the ever-lasting, sinking feeling that the world would never be the same will last forever.

The fact that my dad was almost in New York City, specifically the World Trade Center, on the morning of 9/11…Luckily, he got the last flight out of New York City back to Columbus on September 10th, completely unaware of what would happen just hours later.

RIP to all the victims and their families from the plane crashes in New York City, Washington, D.C. and the United 93 flight that heroically crashed in Pennsylvania.

Never forget and “let’s roll.”

By Now, Cellphones Should Be a Grain of Salt

Cellphones (or smartphones) appear (and are literally) getting larger in size. But that wasn’t what we all thought back in the day…of the 2000s.

Anyways, an SNL sketch with a hilarious guest host who is in the zone, Jimmy Fallon breaking character at the exact right moments (wait, he breaks character?) and Will Ferrell being, well…

Okay you guys, it’s the weekend, which means you’re supposed to break your Monday-Friday character. However, if you work at a place like Jeffrey’s, folding the same clothes all day, laughing on the job may just be part of the gig.

P.S. What is it with Will Ferrell and women’s sunglasses…?
