Using a Crane (or 2) to Grab a Song from the Must See Past
It’s blog posts like this one that solidify the excitement and necessity for “Throwback Thursday.”
Frasier is one of the best sitcoms in television history. The writing, characters, acting, settings, cleverness and overall tone of the show were absolutely top drawer. This series began with very real emotions and situations that were relatable to a broad audience, whilst adding just the right amount of suspended belief to make its stories greatly entertaining with notes of appreciated realism throughout the show’s illustrious 11 seasons.
Please enjoy one of these very scenes that captures the love (and laugh-out-loud comedic timing) of the Crane men. Martin Crane (the father) discovers a newfound connection with his sons who aptly remind him of their likeness, well, just watch.
It’s a must see clip.
#Family.
That short scene demonstrates why Frasier was so masterful.
Happy “Throwback Thursday.”
P.S. Actually, a tossed salad and scrambled eggs sound pretty good right now…
Kansas, Revisited
Laughter is the best medicine…
especially when you have to deal with all that dust in the wind.
The Late Late Show host James Corden skipped “Carpool Karaoke” and instead teamed up with Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons for a musical homage in classic Kansas style (and then some hilarious ridiculousness). Mr. Corden, like Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon, continues to prove his prowess for singing-related skits. While there are plenty of musical groups today that deserve parody, it can be quite entertaining to flashback to an era some may have forgotten for a brief moment.
And Thursday seems like an appropriate day for such a flashback.
Notice any similarities with the real Kansas music video for their hit “Dust in the Wind”?
Well played, James and Jim…well played.
That 2nd (Well 2-0) Degree Burn
Dos-a-Cero: Enough said.
Okay, here are a few more words.
THE soccer capital of the United States of America will feature the Stars & Stripes vs. That Team Down South (trademark pending) for the fifth time tomorrow night. The forecast for Columbus, OH is projecting weather in the lower 40s on November 11th. Hopefully, it will be the coldest, most uncomfortable 40-degrees in recorded history. Why? Because the visiting opponent/hated rival Mexico That Team Down South hates the frigid weather of a particular Midwestern capital. For the first Dos-a-Cero match on February 28, 2001, the players from That Team Down South refused to warm-up due to the slightly chilly weather (in the teens).
More will be written about the unrivaled history and significance of Dos-a-Cero in Columbus, OH in tomorrow’s post. For now, let’s all enjoy (in the warm comfort of our homes) a throwback this Thursday to this legendary 2-nil series between the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) and, you know…
Again, a Jimmy’s Daily Planet trademark is pending.
Fun Fact: Josh Wolff is currently an Assistant Coach with, yes, Columbus Crew SC.
Hopefully, USMNT Head Coach Jürgen Klinsmann asks Mr. Wolff to give the forwards (and, cough cough, the bench players) a pep-talk before the game tomorrow night.
Hi, I’m Jimmy. Even if Your Name was Thursday, I’d Never Throw You Back
Get ready for the throwback you never knew you needed.
Actors Benedict Cumberbatch, Eddie Redmayne and Bryan Cranston were recent guests on The Graham Norton Show. It was hilariously revealed that Mr. Cranston, in another life, was a deftly skilled interviewer…for a video dating company…from the ’70s and possibly into the ’80s.
In the always entertaining spirit of “Throwback Thursday,” please check out this dynamite interview about a nostalgic dating technique that transformed into a laugh-out-loud throwback for the ages.
Important:
- Bryan Cranston was in a sitcom called Malcolm in the Middle
- Eddie Redmayne is in a new movie called Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
- Benedict Cumberbatch is in a new movie called Doctor Strange
I want the intro/theme music from Great Expectations as my ringtone.
