The Cinematic Fortress of Duopoly
Christopher Reeve is Superman. Christopher is Clark Kent. Christopher Reeve is Kal-El.
The portrayal, reaction and legacy of actor Christopher Reeve as all the above in Richard Donner’s 1978 cinematic classic and superhero benchmark ‘Superman’ changed the way we see the iconic character who believes in truth, justice and the American way. It’s nearly–if not completely impossible–to envision anybody surpassing Mr. Reeve in this acting role.
Flash forward to today and British actor Henry Cavill is giving the role a nice go. Reportedly, he wants to portray the man in steel more akin to Christopher Reeve in a ‘Man of Steel’ sequel.
Speaking of these two cinematic supermen on screen together…
Superman’s story is a hopeful one.
Big Bang Theory…Big Bang Theory…Big Bang Theory…Are You There?
‘The Big Bang Theory’ has only one season of fresh “Bazinga!” surprises courtesy of Sheldon Cooper left as the popular CBS sitcom will end after its forthcoming 12th season.
I remember going to the taping of the pilot episode for ‘The Big Bang Theory’ with my dad many moons ago. His hunch about this show that would feature super intelligent yet entertainingly awkward scientists who struggle to deal with the real world as portrayed by the girl next door, Penny, was as spot on as the science boards on the set.
I have so many great memories of that show, which includes seeing a second live taping years later. While I don’t want to confront this show ending with a lengthy article quite yet, I will mention one fun teasing tidbit about the pilot episode:
The original first scene of the series has been cut from reruns on TBS. Not really sure why? Anyways–
I’m gonna save the details of the pilot’s first scene for ‘The Big Bang Theory’ series finale post next year.
That seems fitting, like something Sheldon would do.
When Will Player 2 Be Ready?
‘Ready Player One’ was an awesome movie experience–in 2D and 3D–visualized for the silver screen by legendary director Steven Spielberg from the literary imagination of Spielbergian author Ernest Cline. And the critical success, as well as the box office success, naturally sparks the question:
Will there be a ‘Ready Player Two’ film?
The comprehensive success of the film supports the notion of a sequel. Yes. But it’s the Oasis and what this wildly imaginative virtual world has become since the events of the first film or book (insert your storytelling preference here) that really justifies the necessity for an IMAX-sized sequel.

The virtual world needs the Carlton dance and Kelly Kapowski.
Music Will Never Fall out of Favor With Us
Music is one of the most powerful forces in the world. The right song, lyrics, and sound can inspire us in ways that are–forgive me in advance–impossible to describe. And this motivational dynamic can occur instantaneously from hearing a quick, short succession of notes or words. We recall fond memories, tough times and/or are reminded of a dream we’re in pursuit of via a full, intensely determined sprint.
Ok, enough sneaky wordplay.
Here’s an extended version of the orchestral theme song from the recently released ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ that, like the film, adds spectacular accents that elevate the song to something bigger and better from the song’s simple yet defining origin.
