Happy Monday

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow.

For those celebrating (as well as those not celebrating, but wishing they were), it’s rare to find love. Truly the greatest thing about life. Therefore, when we do find it, we have to cherish it, protect it and shout it from the rooftops.

Or maybe sing it in perfect unison whilst wearing sharp suits?

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s always the right time to listen to (and watch) The Temptations.

My goodness that’s a great song.

The Atlanta Falcons clearly aren’t big Mighty Ducks movie fans or they could’ve pulled off the Super Bowl LI win by, yes, flying together.

The field goal attempt was within range to put the game out of reach for the New England Patriots late in the fourth quarter by the Atlanta Falcons, but the offense wasn’t in sync and, consequently, their chances of winning went bye-bye-bye.

Christopher Walken knows what I’m talking about.

New England Patriots 34 – Atlanta Falcons 28 in OT.

Admittedly, Super Bowl LI (51) did not present the greatest slate of commercials. Still, there were a few amusing submissions. The Bai drink ad above, the Budweiser journey and the Mr. Clean commercial with the hilarious twist were quite entertaining. Interestingly though, the shortest ad was arguably the best last night.

The creative team at Amazon Echo, which is essentially Siri for the home, wrote and produced a genuinely sweet moment between a father and daughter watching football. The simplicity and the smile-worthy moment was not only what fans of all ages needed and appreciated, but desperately what the NFL needed and appreciated (ie – ratings decline).

Will there be a Little Giants sequel…?

Stranger things are certainly happening in 2017.

But let’s not forget that weird events started occurring back in 1983…

The Screen Actors Guild spotlighted the nostalgic powerhouse Stranger Things as the winner of “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble” during last night’s ceremony. The Netflix show has been accurately described as Steven Spielberg meets Stephen King. Playing by the new rule of non-network TV (10-episode seasons released all at once), Stranger Things has captivated audiences (myself included) that a season 2 order was going to be a sure thing just weeks after Netflix watchers binge-watched all of season one’s hour long episodes.

And ladies and gentlemen, for any TV show, that’s an impressive feat.

While the award is nice (and yes, the speech by the show’s heroic Chief Hopper and Winona Rider’s wide-ranging facial expressions constructed the viral highlight of the night for the Netflix sensation), let’s celebrate the overall awesomeness of Stranger Things by seeing and listening to portions of the show’s incredible synthesized soundtrack…

as performed by three cello players.

Those string things are pretty cool.

Did you think a trailer was the opening act for marketing a new movie in the 21st century?

Think again.

And then think about what this title means for the next epic chapter in the Star Wars cinematic universe.

Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi was written and directed by Rian Johnson (Looper, The Brothers Bloom, Brick) and the 43-year-old has set the bar at a next-level height for his December 15, 2017 release date. The title immediately brings to mind a battle of good vs. evil not seen since Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader’s iconic fight in The Empire Strikes Back back in 1980. Without diving too deep into the reaction Mr. Johnson and Co. expect, I caution you to take a step back and consider that the real hook in this title is visible, yet disguised.

In other words, I suspect “The Last Jedi” is (stay with me here) a Jedi mind trick in and of itself.

What kind of Jedi mind trick? I don’t know.

But extra curious of a mind-blowing, bonus twist I am.

P.S. Remember that Rian Johnson released a special video for fans about wrapping Day 1 of filming Star Wars: Episode VIII back in mid-February of last year (as featured on Jimmy’s Daily Planet), so the hype for this movie has been building for what will turn out to be about 2 years come this December.
