How I Met My XLE
Today was defined by a classic milestone:
The second car.
The fully-equipped 2004 Solara in a bold, beautiful red body was a looker. No doubt about that. I was the recipient of this sporty gem just in time for those years in college when one needs to get away from campus sans the bus and its predetermined schedule. Maya (the Solara) served me well for nearly 10 years and more than 128,000 miles.
There were good memories and those moments I wish didn’t happen. These are the accidents when the car behind me was speeding and then rams into the back of the car, severely damaging the bumper. However, that Toyota-made bumper protected me, so point to Toyota.
Anyways, the day arrived when I needed some new wheels. The great steering, stylish finish, powerful engine, dependability, affordability and incredible safety record led me, after an exhaustive search of countless car models, to return to the land of the Camry.
A 2016 Toyota Camry XLE, to be precise.
After a successful and comfortable ride home from the dealership late tonight in the rain (good sign), one thing came to mind. Enduring the joys and periodic pitfalls of driving a car for such a long time results in unforgettable milestones (100,000 mile mark!) and nostalgic reminiscing.
I’m gonna be showing you something we can all relate to.
And yes, I played and sang along to “500 Miles” by The Proclaimers on many, many occasions.
Maya had great acoustics.
Put on a Dolphin Sweater, it’s Snuggie Season!
Roads…where we’re going, we don’t need roads, a buffing machine or even pants.
Let’s get right to it: The Goldbergs returns to our lives with its season 3 premiere tonight at 8:30 p.m. on ABC.
The ’80s are back in business and it looks riskier and funnier than ever!
You Can’t Beat It
Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson are simply comedy gold.
The Meet the Parents films, Night at the Museum movies, Starsky and Hutch and The Royal Tenenbaums are just a few of their acclaimed collaborations. Their bromance on the silver screen is infectious in the best ways, with their character portrayals best described as engaging, outrageous and always unforgettable. Each of us imagines we are either Stiller or Wilson, or a little of both.
In the case of the dance-off in their 2001 cult classic Zoolander, well, there are no words…
Thankfully, Zoolander 2 premieres in theaters on February 12, 2016.
Happy Throwback Thursday!
Happy Monday!
“First off, I want to apologize for having eyes, ears, a brain and experiences.”
Political correctness needs an end-date. That’s literally no joke. This topic was covered a little bit last week with a portion of an interview with comedian Bill Burr. His take was terrific and funny. However, SNL-alum Colin Quinn’s micro-analysis joke on this subject may have revealed the true insanity (no hyperbole) of society’s PC losers.
Colin Quinn: An impressive collection of bland molecular cells without any distinguishable features or opinions that could culminate in the micro or macro disruption of the sensitive nature of a fellow life form.
Colin Quinn: It’s scary how accurate that material is today, but thank you for creatively pointing out how ridiculous this absurdity has become and that it needs to stop.
Have an Awesome PC-Free Week!
