Bachman’s Exit is…Insanity?
Jian-Yang! T.J. Miller!
For any fan of the pitch-perfect comedy on HBO about Silicon Valley, which is aptly titled Silicon Valley, the adapted shout above is pitch-perfect.
What’s not perfect for any fan of Silicon Valley was the shocking news that one of its endlessly hilarious ensemble stars, T.J. Miller (Erlich Bachman, founder of Aviato), announced with HBO that he would not be returning for the forthcoming fifth season next year. The aforementioned hit show features brilliant writing, deft insight into the happenings and quirky (to put it lightly) characteristics of northern California’s tech culture and a cast of actors and actresses that make up one of the best casts on television.
So, that begs THE question: Why leave now?
For an actor who thrives on a life as an off-the-wall entertainer, the following excerpt from a recent interview was a sobering applause break for a rare glimpse into the man T.J. Miller.
Erlich Bachman T.J. Miller will be missed.
Not as much as the spoons designed perfectly for enjoying yogurt at snack time, but close.
Erlich Bachman knows what I’m talking about. Jian-Yang also knows, but he doesn’t care…plus, he’s is busy setting the garbage on fire.
Jian-Yang!
RIP Don Rickles
Comedy just got a little less insulting.
Famed insult comic Don Rickles died today at the towering age of 90. While many might have suspected being in his cross hairs would be a terrible thing, it was quite the opposite. As a matter of fact, receiving the Don Rickles burn became a badge of honor. One of the greatest gifts a comedian can achieve is the elasticity to say just about anything to anybody and have the audience laughing every time.
Robin Williams was one of these very rare comics.
It’s difficult to attempt to encapsulate the storied career of Don Rickles, but the following video does a commendable job at this trying feat.
Particularly in the modern PC Era, we needed Don Rickles now more than ever. Let’s all remember and honor the magic of his insulting (yet heartwarming) comedic style.
RIP Don Rickles.
This Broderick Never Takes a Day Off
Local injury attorney commercials are, how do I put this…
A spectacular art form.
We’ve all seen them. Most of the time, we can’t believe that the individuals in the commercials are, well, actual attorneys. Something usually seems off about these so-called “attorneys.” And yet, the truth is they are real lawyers. Even more, they must be fairly talented at practicing law to afford the number of prime commercial spots during local news broadcasts.
Furthermore, these local attorneys typically have unique character traits that would cause any viewer to shake his or her head in disbelief. This could be a strange haircut or a bizarre personality. A common response might be, “There’s no way he’s an attorney! I don’t believe it.” Fortunately, Saturday Night Live had some fun with everyone’s favorite local commercials.
I’m legally obligated to state that you will laugh quite a bit during this sketch.
This fake commercial needs to air during real local news broadcasts.
No joke.
TGI(A)F
Thank Goodness it’s (Almost) Friday.
Have you ever had one of those Thursdays when you’re at work doing serious tasks and something breaks your concentration? We’ve all been there, particularly when we’re cognizant of the fact that only one day separates us from the weekend. The problem is we can’t allow ourselves to break our 9-5 “character.” This lapse in protocol can come from a big, dramatic distraction or it can be a few declarative words from your offbeat coworker.
Dwight always had the perfect beet for comedy.
Fact: You need the strength of 11 full-grown men to get through that clip without laughing.
