Happy Halloween!
Michael Myers, the killers from the Scream movies, pumpkins, evil leprechauns, ghosts and goblins, curses and witchcraft, candy galore, mysterious fog and wild costumes round out what Halloween is mostly all about.
Mostly.
It’s a great time of year when our imaginations can run wild and we can be as scary or humorously creative as we want. Ultimately, it’s a celebration and a time of year when we love to be scared; getting our heart racing is a plus. Visiting costume stores/depots that are set-up for about a couple months is always entertaining because we discover what the top costumes will be in a particular year in popular culture. This year there will be current favorites like Game of Thrones and Guardians of the Galaxy, classics like a cat and a ghost, plus nostalgic returns like the dynamically dumb duo of Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas. But let’s be 100% sure not what neglect a cinematic treasure from the past that can be viewed and celebrated by people of all ages (especially Millennials). We can watch the scariest films we want, but somewhere in our playlist must be a movie that stars three witches, a talking cat and some salt.
When I say, “Hocus,” you say…
Happy Halloween!
Happy Monday!
We try, day in and day out, but to no avail.
Insanity is, of course, doing the same thing over and over again, yet expecting different results. But changing routine can be a trying experience, and this is especially true when our alarms ring so discouragingly loud on Monday mornings. Can we really muster the energy and mental strength to alter our seemingly predetermined life trajectory?
So, what do we do?
Just remember the inspirational figure featured in the video below. Okay, not inspirational, but so confused by the tendencies of basic human interaction that he, by the lightning strike of Zeus, concocts a new and successful outlook on life…however brief.

The Carlton: Defining the Unusual
Carlton’s log: I’m about to dance America back to the ’90s!
Jimmy’s Daily Planet is a big fan of the 1990s sitcom hit, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The acting and the writing was fantastic. Plus, it was a show that achieved the right tone with teenagers and parents alike in terms of the appropriateness of the jokes and the content in general. And it was coupled with valuable life lessons.
Of the many memorable scenes, episodes, zings and lessons learned, there is one particular dance that remains a treasured favorite. It’s iconic. “The Carlton” expresses a love not only for the smooth voice of singer Tom Jones, but also a feeling that allows anyone to literally throw caution to the wind and move like no one’s watching.
Except people are always watching (and doing) that dance with ecstatic delight, especially when it’s performed by its original sitcom lead on prime-time television on a major network.
Alfonso Carlton, you know what to do:
Thank You Alfonso!
The Bohemian Soundtrack
Today is Wednesday, which starts with a “w.” Therefore, it’s only natural to feature a funny video clip from the ’90s cult classic Wayne’s World.
