Happy Labor Day!

Is it possible to blur the line between working and having fun?

On this Labor Day, a holiday that celebrates workers, Americans across the country will fire up the grill and eat some delicious fare without the cloud of work hanging over their heads. Today is intended to be spent with family and friends as the summer season begins to wind down. Summer vacations are in the rear-view mirror. However, what if work didn’t have to necessarily feel like work?

Time for a stroll down memory lane, specifically around the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area…

Here’s to making your dreams come true…your way.

Have a Great Labor Day!

The Edge of the Unknown

The 2016 Ohio State football season will be…

?

Head football coach Urban Meyer has proven his prowess for delivering a Buckeyes team that seriously challenges for the national title/a playoff spot during the past few years. This includes a national championship in 2014. Following a mega successful NFL Draft this summer, the 2016 season will likely be successful, but with questions. Many of these questions will start with the words “how” and “who.”

How will quarterback J.T. Barrett rise to the level of a Heisman candidate, necessary for Ohio State’s overall team success? Who will Barrett pass the ball to in short down situations? Who will Barrett’s long-range target(s) be down the field? How will Mike Weber compare to Ezekiel Elliott? How much running will Barrett have to do to make up for a (potentially) struggling Weber? Who will be the play makers on defense? Who among the heralded freshmen will make a name for themselves like Joey Bosa?

Luckily for the Buckeyes, they have a defensive end with the last name Bosa (Joey Bosa’s brother Nick).

The point is that Ohio State football is a well-oiled machine that will, in all likelihood, produce yet another incredible season for its passionate fans. But how incredible? Nobody knows for certain exactly how this season will transpire. In order for November showdowns to have the same consequence as past seasons, there’s a word that must reveal itself in the preceding months:

Inspire.

Who will inspire the Buckeyes to push themselves beyond their expectations to the next-level seen during the 2014 National Championship run? This is the question that Urban Meyer most likely wants answered the most because the solution to this overarching, macro problem could resolve or band-aid many of the existing and inevitable micro issues.

The video editing crew is giving it their best shot to inspire fans before the first kickoff of the 2016 season against Urban Meyer’s former team Bowling Green State University this Saturday at The Ohio Stadium at noon.

“Welcome to the Edge.”

And what will be on the other side of the edge for the Buckeyes in 2016?

Coldplay’s Night-Light

Coldplay isn’t just good at warm tributes, they’re also pretty good at this whole “performing” thing.

Zero score and four years ago, I was in Los Angeles, California and saw Coldplay at the picturesque Hollywood Bowl. My dad and I were halfway up in the center, which made for an awesome view. Setting wise, few (if any) outdoor venues compare. The serene SoCal evening was electrified by the pulsating sound of the pop music quartet from across the pond, bringing a random collection of fans together in a way only a concert can do. A few songs in and strangers in the rows in front of and behind us transformed into fast friends.

The power of music strikes again.

To celebrate Throwback Thursday, here’s a unique look back at that night in the Hollywood Hills.

The visual artistry from that night was unforgettable. In nearly every concert, the highlight is the musical act. Except, as the 2012 show in the Hollywood Bowl revealed, there were clearly two headliners: Coldplay and the projection designers. The end result was a concert that hypnotized every person in attendance into singing and dancing.

Even Charlie Brown had a smile on his face.

P.S. Coldplay’s “Charlie Brown” circa 2012 Hollywood Bowl.

(FYI: It should be mentioned that there’s a solitary four-letter word dropped at the 2:46 mark)

P.P.S. The wristbands lit up during specific songs and moments, adding to the magical feel of the Coldplay experience.

Dreaming in a “Sky Full of Stars”

Coldplay is really good at playing warm tributes.

In similar fashion to their 2012 tribute to the late Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys during a show at the Hollywood Bowl, Coldplay showed their respect and admiration to the life of the inspirational Gene Wilder at a recent show.

The visual of confetti stars falling to the tune of “Pure Imagination” is a genuinely nice tribute by the band from across the pond. Sometimes, simplicity can speak volumes and this is one of those moments. What’s incredible is that those two words will forever be linked to the late Gene Wilder, bringing a smile to the face of anybody that hears the magical phrase.

As it turns out, any ticket bought to see a Gene Wilder movie was a golden ticket.
