A Noisy Cricket Told Me About a New MIB Trailer

‘Tis the season for…’90s nostalgia?

Yesterday, it was Google’s fantastic modern recreation of Kevin McCallister’s ‘Home Alone’ plan that brought us all back to that 1990 Chris Columbus classic. Today, it’s Sony Pictures Entertainment that released–a matter of minutes ago–the first trailer for this summer’s latest throwback adventure.

Admittedly, there is no Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones in sight, which is hard not to see in this film series. Regardless, franchise newcomers Chris Hemsworth (comedic role in ‘Ghostbuster’s remake) and Tessa Thompson (‘Westworld’) are teaming up again like in 2017s ‘Thor: Ragnarok,’ just with a more sophisticated style.

Oh, and add in Liam Neeson and Emma Thompson for good measure.

We’ll be able to see what ‘Men in Black: International’ is made of this summer.

P.S. The Thor hammer bit at the end of the trailer was a fantastic ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ tie-in.

Kevin’s Wireless Plan Guarantees You’re Never Home Alone

If you Google “greatest commercial ever,” then this brand new video will be the top result. Just give it a couple days.

1990 nostalgia gold for the win.

Well played, Google and Kevin McCallister…well played!

The Eagle’s Perch

“Eagle 20-Fox 2.”

The American bald eagle is majestic, flying with an unrivaled strength and precision in the air whose only match is a prehistoric dinosaur known as the Pterodactyl. But that’s not here but only back there.

Well, depending on if you want ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ to come true.

Regardless, there’s something else there. There’s an “it’ factor with an eagle that’s difficult to see up close. Distance is required to understand the true power of the eagle.

And yet it’s there when needed most…on a perch or in a cockpit taking a slightly different form than expected.

It’s not the 4th of July, but Eagle 20-Fox knew how to help in the direst situations.

Just sitting and waiting until that moment arrives.

Fast-Changing Times Not at Ridgemont High

A Jimmy’s Daily Planet Blog Tease:

Wednesday = H2Zero

Thursday = The Orb(I Tell)

Friday = An Eagle’s Perch

Normally, I write my blog posts on the day and in the moment. True story. However, feeling inspired by today’s blog, I decided to randomly type headlines I thought sounded cool without knowing what they will be about.

We’ll see how this works.

Now, if you’re wondering:

Advertising and marketing continue to evolve by the day with short video content, by the way.

Or “BTW,” as the text-savvy kids say.

And the folks at Netflix, partnering with the ‘Stranger Things’ team–a smash hit original series based in the 1980s with impressive storytelling and era-capturing precision–recently dropped a clever teaser trailer for its pending teaser trailer for the highly-anticipated third season.

It’s being called a “Title Tease.” Ok…Well, now I’m curious to see what’s coming next in television and commercial marketing.

Anyways, unlike conventional sitcoms, this binge-worthy show purposely releases all ten episodes that make up each season at once. Admittedly, this causes a Tostitos mild salsa-caliber spoiler. Or perhaps like the salsa, it merely introduces a satisfying taste (or tease) of the full meal?

You be the judge.

Wait…they had Tostitos in the ’80s, right? Regardless, here’s the aforementioned teaser trailer for the pending teaser trailer for the third season of ‘Stranger Things.’

While 2019 is a little vague for a drop date, 1980-something works perfectly for ‘The Goldbergs.’ So it’s time to put up–and keep up–Christmas lights for all of 2019.

P.S. Yes, Tostitos chips were around in the ’80s!
