Johnny English: Rowan Along for a Third Time
Mr. Bean, Mr. Bean, the magical comedian, the more you watch him, the more you…
smart?
Mr. Bean Rowan Atkinson is, well, it’s rather difficult to pinpoint his American counterpart. Perhaps there isn’t any red, white & blue actor who fits the bill? Bill Murray? No. Bill Murray is in a comedic league all his own. I can’t believe I even wrote that. Although, it was a humorous segue.
Anyways, back to the point.
The 63-year-old British actor is an awesome character actor. He’s not mean or vulgar. Rowan Atkinson consistently delivers clean, clever fun for kids and adults of all ages. And if you haven’t seen Mr. Atkinson’s brilliant creation as the muted, accident-prone Mr. Bean, then an argument can be made that you haven’t fully experienced life on this planet. Well, good news because Jimmy’s Daily Planet (there I go again) will help alleviate this potential problem.
Let’s start with the brand new trailer that debuted today for the upcoming film Johnny English Strikes Again.
Is Johnny English Strikes Again–the third film in the series–the final cinematic chapter for this character?
The answer is know…I just don’t know.
Yes.
It seems like the days are gone when we would excitedly await new neighbors. That feeling that something profound is about to happen by mysterious chance. How will the neighborhood change? Will he, she or they become my new best friend(s)?
There are so many questions concerning new neighbors and the subsequent impact on our lives. Arguably no neighbor will have an influence equal regarding sincerity, warmth and overall goodness as Mr. Rogers. Thankfully, some moviemakers felt the same way…
My answer–along with everybody else–is yes (Hint: This, along with this blog post’s title, answers the film’s endearing question).
I was very happy that Mr. Rogers was my TV neighbor. He embodied the highest-definition of friendship.
Will the Second Be the Best?
The primary questions involving movie sequels to popular, well-received originals are:
Will they be fantastic? Will the sequel be a storytelling, cinematic beast in its own right? How about a little of both?
The 2016 Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film adaptation of the book of the same title is the grown-up version of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series (books and movies). This new teaser trailer solidifies that dynamic while using the wizarding school of Hogwarts and one of its most prominent figures just enough to firmly connect the two virtually separate universes for fans young and old for what should be a great reveal later this year.
What’s impressive in the video above is that one of writer J.K. Rowling’s favorite directors, David Yates, appears to have taken the Crimes of Grindelwald story to the next-level. And what’s more is that this Fantastic Beasts sequel looks, yes, better than the original in this burgeoning series. Could this really happen? A movie in the modern era with a sequel better than the original?
That could be the real magic of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald when it arrives in theaters on November 16.
