Happy Monday
This blog post will forever change your perception of the phrase, “putting your own spin on things.”
Individually, we all have something unique to offer. And once we discover and understand this distinctive gift within ourselves, then we have the potential to change things in substantial (even unforgettable) ways.
Okay, enough with the ambiguous set-up.
Check out this impossible free kick that Brazilian Roberto Carlos, somehow, made possible against France back in 1997.

Yes, Roberto Carlos owns the crazy surreal free kick. True story. However, there are plenty of other incredible things we can do that can spark the same kind of awe and amazement…
like disproving gravity.
Well, you’ll never know what you can do unless you try (not disproving gravity, but something equally awesome).
Have a Better Week Than Last Week.
Changing IDEOlogy
IDEO’s approach to innovation and business deserves one very succinct word:
Amen.
Diversity is not restricted by race or gender, but expands in equal capacity and wonder to thought process. How we think certainly varies based on our gender and our personal experiences growing up in different places, as well as growing up in the same place as our peers. Incredibly, there are no limits to creativity, especially if (and when) we adopt a more lively dynamic to be initiated for problem-solving.
This is where IDEO comes into play to redefine not only what we innovate, but how we innovate in the 21st century with proof from the late 20th century. And this solution is people-centric. Keep in mind this aforementioned proof includes the very first mouse for Apple, as directly requested by this guy who went by the name of Steve Jobs. Exploring what IDEO’s founder David Kelley and his brother Tom Kelley deem as “creative confidence” that’s currently in concert with Stanford University has the potential to gradually revolutionize not only how universities design curriculum, but also how businesses in a myriad of industries could (and should) approach hiring and operating in the not-so-distant future.
Currently, there is IDEO (the company), IDEO U (offering online courses for the public) and D.School (Stanford Graduate Students).
To put a finer point on it, IDEO is Silicon Valley’s transferable future to us all.
While no “app” is necessary, the application of IDEO’s ideas should be downloaded ASAP.

With the past few records, Coldplay has been far less cold and much more play.
There are some bands that seem to have just the right song for us, almost tailor-made when we need it most. Perhaps that’s one of the many reasons why Coldplay is as highly-regarded as they are these days. The British quartet understand how to hit the exact right notes, both melodically and lyrically. While rock n’ roll is the greatest form of music, there are moments when the dial needs to be turned down with an emphasis on day dreaming and our imaginations (even though the latter can contribute to what’s driving us crazy).
Slowing things down and dreaming wildly to find those precious answers to those pressing questions, this time with a perspective far beyond any construct found within our known reality?
Scroll down&down for a much-needed escape this Tuesday.
Why not see the world this way?
Don’t give your imagination the cold shoulder.
Play.
These Musical Chairs Are a Force Unlike Any Other
Continuing yesterday’s blog post, let’s explore a bit of the force and its enduring power…
John Williams.
Enough said, I know. Mr. Williams is a masterful music composer who is responsible for some of the most iconic and treasured movie scores in history. Among them, the theme from Jaws (1975), all the Star Wars films (starting in 1977), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), Superman (1978), all the Indiana Jones films (starting in 1981), E.T. (1982), Home Alone (1990), Schindler’s List (1993), Jurassic Park (1993) and so on.
Forgive me for not listing all his movie soundtracks, but it’s a very long list.
Returning to the Star Wars franchise was a thrill for Mr. Williams, as he explains in the video below. Inspired by the chance viewing of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope on the first day of 2017, any reason to listen to and learn from a genius is a good one. And this is one of those occasions. For any fan of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (or of brilliant music in general), please enjoy a special behind-the-scenes look into the process for writing and imagining the soundtrack for the blockbuster smash hit The Force Awakens.
If that interview makes you ponder life in a slightly unorthodox, yet better way, then the force may not be that far off for you…
