Happy Monday!

Lightning struck last night in Rio for the third time.

Usain Bolt is scary fast and awesomely entertaining. NBC journalist Bob Costas made the astute observation that Bolt is not a show-off, but is, more accurately, a showman. And Mr. Costas was proven right late last night when the legendary Jamaican sprinter beat American rival Justin Gatlin by .08 seconds in the breathtaking 100m final for his mind-boggling third consecutive Olympic gold medal and immediately joined in festive celebration with his countless fans along the rail of the track immediately following his epic conquest. His warm-down style is by far the best in the world.

Above all the entertaining bravado, Usain Bolt is a class act. This video/interview is from a few years ago.

The world-class 100m Olympic final was pretty close.

  1. Usain Bolt (9.81)
  2. Justin Gatlin (9.89)
  3. Andre De Grasse (9.91)

Even with the razor-thin margins between Bolt and Gatlin & Gatlin and De Grasse, Usain Bolt dominated everyone’s focus at the finish line. The man that Mr. Costas determined is now a more famous figure in Jamaica than Bob Marley (hmmm…?) is a larger-than-life athlete and persona. Standing (and sprinting) at a towering 6’5″, the “Lightning Bolt” has kept our attention for several Olympics and international competitions.

Back in 2013 at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow, Russia, Mother Nature went as far as to validate Usain Bolt’s perfectly given last name.

Remember this surreal, once-in-a-lifetime moment?

Fans of Usain Bolt won’t have wait long to see his next strides toward Olympic glory. The Jamaican sprinter will run in the 200m tomorrow morning. As his 9.58 seconds world record in the 100m, 19.19 seconds world record in the 200m and the picture above reveal, you know something special will happen.

Wherever Usain Bolt is, a show is sure to follow.

A lightning show, to be specific.

Have a Showstopper Kind of Week!

Happy Monday!

US-A!

U.S. gymnast Gabby Douglas trained in Columbus, Ohio for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro (hence the revamped US-A chant above) and she’s already making Americans proud early into the competition.

The medal round (so-to-speak) is still a ways off, but after watching the American gymnast struggle in her qualifying performances to just make the Olympics, the announcer was spot-on:

It’s nice to see Gabby Douglas smile.

Have an Inspired Week!

Happy Monday!

Who needs a parachute?

Skydiving extraordinaire Luke Aikins attempted the unthinkable this past Saturday night: A free-fall from 25,000 feet without (I repeat) without a parachute.

Yes, Luke Aikins is completely insane.

Simi Valley, California was the scene for this extreme stunt over the weekend and the catch (literally) was that the 42-year-old Luke Aikins had to calculate to land in an elevated net on the ground with a nervously excited crowd on-site. While the net appeared large and wide from the perspective of the spectators, the net probably looked like, from a certain height, the head of a pin for Luke Aikins.

Absolutely terrifying.

And yet, I can’t look away…

Forget golf: That’s a hole-in-one.

Have an Insanely Awesome Week!

Happy Monday!

Cowboys use a lasso, but not like this…

Wonder Woman has never hit the silver screen before as the lead character. Actress Gal Gadot’s superhero of power, grace, wisdom and wonder was introduced (in spectacular fashion) in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice earlier this year. In 2017, the world will finally be given the complete cinematic treatment to the female equivalent to Superman.

Long overdue.

The first trailer, as seen above, fittingly premiered at Comic-Con this past Saturday afternoon. A full trailer and not a teaser trailer. That’s not nothing, ladies and gentlemen. Although, considering the extensive presence of Wonder Woman in Dawn of Justice, the secret was effectively out of the bag from a few months ago. And understanding the nature of trailers and the tightly choreographed 2-3 minute snapshot for any given film, the verdict for Wonder Woman won’t be determined by Juror #6 (shout-out to last Friday’s post) and the public until the credits roll in the summer of next year. However, upon first glance, people will be excited for this movie.

Oh, and this other small, independent film of a similar theme also released its first full trailer at this year’s Comic-Con.

One thing’s for certain: Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman proves there’s some justice in this world.

Have an Awesome Week!
