RIP Stan Lee

Stan Lee died yesterday at the towering age of 95.

Before he became the most famous cameo in Marvel’s superhero films–as well as the ‘Big Bang Theory’–Stan Lee was regarded inside the comic book universe as the endless creator of spectacular superheroes and a builder of, well, universes for said superheroes. And like many pop culture icons, Mr. Lee had a surreal impact on countless people’s childhoods.

Along with the adulthoods that grew from those imaginative childhoods.

His blockbuster credits (full and partial) include Spider-Man, the X-Men (Wolverine, Magneto, Professor X, Cyclops, Mystique, Rogue, to name a few), the Avengers (the Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Loki, to name a few), and Fantastic Four (Dr. Doom, Thing, Susan Storm, Mister Fantastic, Human Torch).

Interestingly, Mr. Lee had a naming quirk regarding his superheroes. Raj¬†pointed this out extensively in an episode of ‘The Big Bang Theory.’

Raj has a point.

More to the point is a simple truth that Stan Lee positively changed lives with his art and boundless creativity fueled by childlike wonder. The following cameo in ‘Spider-Man 3’ sums his legacy up perfectly.

However, a more perfect summary to remember Stan Lee would simply be Excelsior.

Happy Monday

The team behind Justice League is looking to do its forthcoming film, well, justice with a brand new trailer.

Continuing with the Comic Con schedule of another Saturday trailer release (even though Comic Con isn’t for a few months), Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Comics debuted the new Justice League trailer online and throughout its social media channels this past weekend for anxious fans and curious moviegoers. The tone and special effects appear quite similar to Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Understandable. Continuity is, after all, a top priority when weaving together many superheroes, each with their own individual film(s) during a decade-long (maybe more?) time frame.

Ladies and gentlemen, here is the aforementioned trailer for Justice League.

This movie (Justice League) could very well propel or sink the current DC superhero cinematic universe collectively and, therefore, individually as well.

No pressure.

Have a Better Week Than Last Week.

Happy Monday!

Cowboys use a lasso, but not like this…

Wonder Woman has never hit the silver screen before as the lead character. Actress Gal Gadot’s superhero of power, grace, wisdom and wonder was introduced (in spectacular fashion) in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice earlier this year. In 2017, the world will finally be given the complete cinematic treatment to the female equivalent to Superman.

Long overdue.

The first trailer, as seen above, fittingly premiered at Comic-Con this past Saturday afternoon. A full trailer and not a teaser trailer. That’s not nothing, ladies and gentlemen. Although, considering the extensive presence of Wonder Woman in Dawn of Justice, the secret was effectively out of the bag from a few months ago. And understanding the nature of trailers and the tightly choreographed 2-3 minute snapshot for any given film, the verdict for Wonder Woman won’t be determined by Juror #6 (shout-out to last Friday’s post) and the public until the credits roll in the summer of next year. However, upon first glance, people will be excited for this movie.

Oh, and this other small, independent film of a similar theme also released its first full trailer at this year’s Comic-Con.

One thing’s for certain: Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman proves there’s some justice in this world.

Have an Awesome Week!
