When I Heard, I Just Said No
America’s Lady in Red is back with her Ronnie.
Nancy Reagan passed away yesterday at the towering age of 94.
First Lady Nancy Reagan was just that in so many ways. People first looked to Mrs. Reagan as a personification of grace, intelligence, class and style. She was a one-of-a-kind First Lady of the United States of America. Nancy Reagan will be remembered for her love and devotion to her husband, the conservative cause and for epitomizing what the First Lady should exemplify. Far too often we are forced to look to movies for showcasing the best of a modern American president and first family (Independence Day, Air Force One), but Nancy and Ronald Reagan (former actors themselves) turned that perception into a lasting reality.
They were positive, optimistic role models for people (in and out of politics alike).

Nancy Reagan was surely shocked at the state of vulgarity, lack of civility and absence of optimism in the current race for president. Hopefully, this picture and many others of Nancy Reagan with her husband will send the exact right (and necessary) shock waves to voters of what a first family of the United States should personify.
Republicans loved and idolized her, but so did Americans of varying political stripes. Let’s hope (and pray) people’s memories of her and her husband from a more civilized era can be the wild card of this political season that reveals an inspiring third act, showing the best of who we are for moving into an uncertain future.
If the past 24 hours are any indication, Americans are just saying yes to Nancy Reagan’s loving, elegant legacy.
RIP Nancy Reagan.
RIP Leonard Nimoy
Famed actor and science-fiction icon Leonard Nimoy passed away today at the age of 83. Known primarily for his role as Spock in the popular television series Star Trek, Nimoy also did many other media ventures, including sitting in the director’s chair for the 1987 classic Three Men and a Baby. While I’m not a Star Trek fan/Trekkie, I do know that he’s an important figure in science-fiction popular culture. Surprisingly, his best “cameo” in television’s #1 comedy The Big Bang Theory was in name/DNA only.
Sheldon’s reaction encapsulates how many people viewed Mr. Nimoy.

RIP Joan Rivers
The best (and funniest) comedians and comediennes not only make us laugh and reflect on the world we live in, but they connect with their audiences in ways that are meaningful and sustaining.
Our attention doesn’t end with the punchline.
For many fans and those in the stand-up industry, Joan Rivers was a pioneer for female comics, comics in general and, well, she was just a damn funny woman! But her legacy will reach far beyond the jokes that made us laugh. Recently during The Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon paid an emotional tribute to Joan Rivers by explaining the sincerity and kind words said by the adored comic during his first night of hosting “the show” of late night, her first appearance on The Tonight Show in decades.
RIP Joan Rivers.
Welcome to the Best of Richard Attenborough
Among his many films and performances, the following video clip is arguably the definitive few minutes of the late actor and director Richard Attenborough who passed away yesterday. Through the novel of Michael Crichton and the cinematic vision of Steven Spielberg, Jurassic Park became a global sensation. Impressively, this movie franchise is probably as popular today as it was twenty years ago. And the innovative mad man/character behind this never-before-seen animal preserve was John Hammond, as portrayed by Richard Attenborough.
Like Dr. Alan Grant and Dr. Ellie Sattler, we all remember when John Hammond first brought us to Jurassic Park:
Happy Monday and RIP Richard Attenborough.
