Happy 4th of July!

There’s a phrase, “Truth is stranger than fiction.”

In the case of most Americans, they’re wishing that fiction was the truth.

Today is when we celebrate our founding fathers for their revolutionary vision and incredible blind faith in a new nation with new principles that would redefine the world forever. The United States of America is the greatest country in history, and 240 years ago, this nation declared that its citizens have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

That’s the truth.

Here’s the fiction.

Independence Day: Resurgence has the difficult task of just trying to live up to the classic original. Certainly not an easy task, particularly without Will Smith. The rest of the cast and director did return, which is an encouraging sign. The 1996 B-Movie masterpiece was 2 and 1/2 hours of cinematic gold, featuring one of the best (if not the best) American presidential portrayals in film: President Thomas J. Whitmore. If there’s one dynamic the current presidential election cycle has verified, it’s that anything is possible. With this in mind, why not write-in or at least imagine a fictional movie character as our next president?

President Thomas J. Whitmore exemplifies the character and courage our founders had in mind back in 1776.

Happy Independence Day!

Happy Memorial Day!

Pay your respects to those who have sacrificed their life for our country.

At a time when the United States is yearning for strong presidential leadership, it’s best to reflect to the past for guidance into the future. On Memorial Day, this sentiment is magnified 100-fold. Our veterans that never returned home from the battlefield demonstrated resolute strength in the face of unthinkable evil. We must always remember the reason for the long weekend, which is to honor those in America’s armed forces and celebrate what their courage means for us each and every day.

To all the American heroes in uniform:

Thank You!

Fourth Be With You May It

What day is today?

Yoda knows.

In 1977, George Lucas (still forgiving him the best we can for Episodes I, II and III) unleashed his imagination to the world with an out-of-this-world space operatic adventure that redefined cinema and the culture in too many ways to identify and describe.

Need a little proof?

May 4th is officially regarded as Star Wars Day. To be more precise, we celebrate today with, “May the 4th Be With You.”

The movie and subsequent franchise that changed everything was born out of something less certain and more fluid than some may realize. George Lucas, as heard in the clip below, describes the inception of Star Wars and a few of its leading characters. For any fan, and even the 17 non-fans out there, listening to how the man behind the amazing creation of this epic saga realized his galaxy far, far, away is compelling.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to turn on my lightsaber and let The Force be with me.

And may it also be with you.

This is a Little Random…

Is it random to celebrate a day of randomness when it’s on the calendar?

Either way, any day filled with randomness is a great day.

February 17, 2016 is, in fact, “Random Acts of Kindness Day.” The greatest part about this occasion is that the simplest of gestures can make all the difference for someone. We all have those days and it’s incredible what a spontaneous spark of goodness can do for us. That flicker is just what we need, like happily looking at a birthday candle being lit.

How about we do something randomly nice every day of the year?

It would actually be pretty random since nobody would see it coming.
