That ’80s Music…From 2018
On this Throwback Thursday, it’s time to venture back to the ’80s.
All I have to say is ‘Ready Player One,’ ‘The Goldbergs,’ ‘Stranger Things’ and Weezer’s “Africa” rendition and you understand how beloved that decade remains in 2018 with all of us who lived during it. And now new generations are getting a nostalgia-high for a decade that solidified Steven Spielberg, was driven by a robust economy and discovered that Guns N’ Roses had an appetite for entertaining destruction on and off stage.
Add The Midnight to the aforementioned mix above who–in 2018– is proving why the ’80s was one of exploration that discovered a lot about ourselves individually and collectively.
This song should’ve been in ‘Ready Player One.’ Maybe it’ll be in the forthcoming book (and film) ‘Ready Player Two’?
That would be totally bitchin’ (the second throwback this Thursday).
Happy Monday!
Mondays are not fun. Mondays are stressful. Mondays give Tuesday an extra glow because it’s, well, not Monday.
Despite all this unflattering criticism of that lonely day that starts with the letter “m,” we won’t abandon you. We won’t take off in the middle of the night. Mondays serve a purpose during the week. One of the days has to be the buzz-kill. Mondays took that bullet for us. And for that, we’re thankful.
And even more than that, dearest Monday, we won’t ever…
If that’s not ’80s nostalgia worthy of an epic ‘Goldbergs’ dance, then I don’t know what it is.
Have a Better Day Than Yesterday.
When Will Player 2 Be Ready?
‘Ready Player One’ was an awesome movie experience–in 2D and 3D–visualized for the silver screen by legendary director Steven Spielberg from the literary imagination of Spielbergian author Ernest Cline. And the critical success, as well as the box office success, naturally sparks the question:
Will there be a ‘Ready Player Two’ film?
The comprehensive success of the film supports the notion of a sequel. Yes. But it’s the Oasis and what this wildly imaginative virtual world has become since the events of the first film or book (insert your storytelling preference here) that really justifies the necessity for an IMAX-sized sequel.
‘Ready Player Two’ with a bonanza of nineties pop-culture references?
The virtual world needs the Carlton dance and Kelly Kapowski.
Happy Monday!
It’s not a photo of the first script read-through, as was the case for the 2015 cinematic blockbuster The Force Awakens…

but Stranger Things just may be the television-equivalent for science-fiction fans these days regarding its popular ’80s nostalgic experience, which may validate its video release of their first table read for the highly-anticipated third season.
(see below)
The first table reads for The Force Awakens and the forthcoming third season of the Netflix phenomenon was photographed in black and white…three years apart…with no connection between the two aside from shared cultural popularity. Hmm?
Well, that’s a strange thing to see.
Have a Better Week Than Last Week.
