Happy Monday!
Disney’s timing is impeccable.
People are in need of some unifying good news and Emma Watson and Co. may have a remedy that sparks our imaginations and pulls our heart strings in the best ways. Ladies and gentlemen, there was a movie trailer that was released just this morning and it’s one you’ll want to see…
The 1991 animated masterpiece Beauty and the Beast from Disney remains one of the greatest movies ever made. An incredible feat not only for an animated film, but one courtesy of Disney. When news broke of a live-action version, skepticism immediately followed. The room for error was, potentially, too great to risk the legacy and feel of the original. However, when Emma Watson was cast as Belle, people’s confidence skyrocketed.
For good reason.
And Emma Watson, along with the featured cast, director, set designers, producers, etc., seem to have created something bordering on amazing.
Have an Uplifting Week!
There’s Plenty of Time to Wonder…
7 months and counting.
The first cinematic treatment for Wonder Woman (not counting a TV movie) is set to hit movie theaters on June 2, 2017. Yes, that’s 7 months away. And yet, incredibly, the intrigue for this groundbreaking film won’t lose intensity between now and then. The amazing Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and visionary director Patty Jenkins are leading this game-changing superhero film in an industry that’s currently dominated by male superheroes. The pop culture history, significance and impact of Superman and Batman (as just two examples) is remarkable and surreal.
These superheroes are societal icons.
Having said that, women and young girls need a superhero and icon akin to Superman/Kal-El/Clark Kent on the big screen and in toy stores to directly relate to. Thankfully, that day will be arriving soon. Until next June, please check out the brand new trailer for Wonder Woman.
This trailer lasso together a wonderful truth:
Wonder Woman will change the world in amazing ways we cannot (and can) imagine.
Gunn Pulls First Trigger for Fans
Evidently, the galaxy still needs guarding.
Ladies and gentlemen: The first glimpse into the movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 premiered online this afternoon, courtesy of writer and director James Gunn’s YouTube channel.
With a far-off movie release date of May 5, 2017, there’s little to report beyond the exclusive first-look above. Regardless, there are still a few concrete takeaways at this point:
- We cannot wait to hear the new movie soundtrack filled with nostalgic rock classics
- Chris Pratt will remain the box-office king for the foreseeable future
- And Baby Groot is precious and adorable
Go ahead, give yourself a hug of excitement.
Sci-Fi’s Newest Passengers
Is there space for another movie about…space?
Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence star in a new film Passengers that, as far as we know, tells the story of two people aboard a space ship/stunningly awesome city in the stars who wake up from their slumber 90 years early to chaos that builds and builds towards an explosive third act. At this point, the primary question surrounding this movie is whether it’s solely rooted in cutting-edge entertainment or if it combines special effects and a subtle, yet profound commentary about the current state of humanity? The best films incorporate both qualities with cleverly disguised dialogue and open-ended questions without giving clear, direct answers hidden throughout the film worthy of Houdini himself.
Let’s check out the Avalon together.
On December 21st of this year, we’ll discover if Passengers has what it takes to be in the driver’s seat of innovative science-fiction.
