‘First Man’ Gets a Second Loop

‘First Man’ will not have a surprise ending–though conspiracy theorists may buy tickets just in case–yet the forthcoming film starring Ryan Gosling and Claire Foy looks every bit as engaging as the real events involving America’s successful landing on the moon back on July 20, 1969.

In preparation for the launch of the Damien Chazelle-directed movie that opens in theaters on October 12 (including IMAX), Universal Pictures premiered the second official trailer for ‘First Man’ today.

Seeing ‘First Man’ on the biggest screen possible will serve as a great reminder of what that risky, inspirational mission represented for our world nearly 50 years ago.

The Cinematic Fortress of Duopoly

Christopher Reeve is Superman. Christopher is Clark Kent. Christopher Reeve is Kal-El.

The portrayal, reaction and legacy of actor Christopher Reeve as all the above in Richard Donner’s 1978 cinematic classic and superhero benchmark ‘Superman’ changed the way we see the iconic character who believes in truth, justice and the American way. It’s nearly–if not completely impossible–to envision anybody surpassing Mr. Reeve in this acting role.

Flash forward to today and British actor Henry Cavill is giving the role a nice go. Reportedly, he wants to portray the man in steel more akin to Christopher Reeve in a ‘Man of Steel’ sequel.

Speaking of these two cinematic supermen on screen together…

Superman’s story is a hopeful one.

RIP John McCain

John McCain died this past Saturday at the towering age of 81. He was an American hero in war, a noble role model in politics and, most importantly, in life.

A Change-Up for Friday

The following song and video just feel like Friday night.

But I can change my mind on that.
