The Scars of Getting Brûlé
Bradley Cooper.
Now that I have your full attention, the increasingly dynamic actor has literally learned new tricks for his most recent film: Burnt.
The heat of a world-class kitchen and its painful wounds with and without knives and boiling water has produced challenges for his character that requires laser-focus, street smarts and determination as strong and ambitious as the Eiffel Tower. Mr. Cooper, once again sharing the silver screen with the entertainingly beautiful Sienna Miller (American Sniper) and a supporting cast of wonderful up-and-comers (Alicia Vikander, Daniel Brühl), is the movie industry’s response to the latest top-shelf food craze in America (Food Network, Top Chef, celebrity chefs and their many shows, cooking competitions, etc.). An added bonus is the film takes place in Paris, which instantly adds an alluring quality to the story.
As Nelly would say, “It’s gettin’ hot in here…”
Like any delicious dish, the most minute details make all the difference between something sizzling and memorable and something lukewarm and forgettable.
How will Burnt’s fantastic cast mix together?
We’ll find out when the movie is served October 23rd.
A Symphonic Revelation
As Back to the Future I and II taught us, walking the same path as our parents is a mind-trip as wild as traveling through time in a DeLorean. Despite knowing our parents for literally our entire lives, watching them in non-family situations offers genuine surprises and insights into how they acted before they had children.
They behave like…us.
This realization is just one of life’s many entertaining curve balls. As we age, we presume that equates to more knowledge and control. Actually, that’s true, except the age we think that control occurs and when that really happens is much different than we might want to admit.
In the case of the trailer for the upcoming film Youth (December 4, 2015), having Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel say “I told you so” in this regard isn’t so bad.
As a matter of fact, it looks quite silvery.
Shock and Awesome
As we enter the weekend, able to take some deep, reflective breaths before having some unbridled fun, this seems like the perfect time to be inspired. We don’t always see where motivational moments will come from and usually the surprise has a profound effect as a result.
Here’s Will Smith’s explanation of his distinctive vocabulary.
This childhood anecdote is one of the main reasons why Will Smith is everyone’s fresh prince.
Vespa’s Comeback
Somehow, someway, society “officially” decided that we should dedicate an entire day to remembering past greatness. “Throwback Thursday” gives us pause to reflect on life’s highlights.
Speaking of which, on this day back in 1953, the classic Roman Holiday premiered in theaters. The beautifully romantic tour de love and laughter introduced the world, in center stage fashion, to the stunningly beautiful, adorably quirky and amazingly graceful Audrey Hepburn.
Perfection.
I really need to travel to Rome and make my own holiday.
