One more…song?
The 2015 Steve Jobs movie, featuring Michael Fassbender (who actually didn’t look like the title character) is the latest cinematic treatment of the Apple co-founder who changed the way we perceive and anticipate technology.
In fact, this movie is almost ready to earn a permanent spot on our movie shelf (February 16th, to be exact).
After watching the past few movies about Mr. Jobs, the preeminent film still hasn’t arrived and, quite possibly, may never arrive at a theater near you. Fully capturing this tech icon’s life and career into a script as innovative and compelling as his products has proven an allusive task.
But what about a song?
The Maccabees did not write “Grew Up at Midnight” for Steve Jobs, but composer Daniel Pemberton (2015’s Steve Jobs movie) recognized how this song with a smashing crescendo paints the scene of a grand legacy coming into focus. And it was all sparked from an imaginatively ambitious youth.
The song was a perfect fit for the film.
This song is also a perfect fit for those who recognize the value in biting into an apple at midnight.
Have an Insanely Great Week!
Happy Monday!
RIP David Bowie.
The musician passed away Sunday after battling cancer. Reports have indicated that he was surrounded by family and friends. Even at 69 years of age, many thought he was entering the next phase of his musical career. “Blackstar” (released just a few days ago) introduced fans to a jazz-infused musical journey with the singer.
His death was a shock to his fans and casual listeners alike.
David Bowie’s legacy will live on, however. The pop culture icon’s work extends well beyond his stage and influenced other entertainment circles.
Have a Great Adventure into the Unknown!
Happy Monday!
Back in 1963, director Alfred Hitchcock sent chills down the spines of moviegoers everywhere with his terrifying portrayal of the seemingly peaceful, elegant winged-creatures in the sky. The Birds (a critically-acclaimed movie) made us fearful of what glides above us, ready to attack with friends aplenty.
Today, in the newly-minted 2016, the British quartet Coldplay is aiming to counter Hitchcock’s nightmarish reputation of birds.
Ladies and gentlemen, fly into the new year with the help of birds.
Have an Uplifting Week!
Happy Monday!
Star Wars: The Force Takes Over
A week-and-a-half into its premiere and The Force Awakens has gifted 2015 with its second $1 billion+ box office monster (the first was Jurassic World). The space epic also became the fastest movie to achieve the aforementioned cinematic feat, barely edging out its prehistoric competition. Star Wars fanatics are undeniably confirming and showcasing their storied, wide-spread fandom to the world and its outer galaxies through ticket sales at the hyper-drive of the Millennium Falcon.
Fans are ecstatic that the old gang (and its new crew) are, as Han Solo says in the trailer, “home.”
Fortunately for us, the creative minds at ESPN joined forces with Star Wars royalty for a special documentary of sorts. The worldwide leader in sports ventured across the galaxy to become the worldwide leader in…
