A Wondrous Capstone
A screen saver doesn’t always do the trick.
A Friday night and impending weekend begs for something special and memorable to transpire. Much like the third act of a movie or play, the end of the workweek simply demands an unforgettable, redeeming twist. The moment can be small or big.
Or really big. As in Great Pyramid big.
With all the violent and political chaos in recent years, it’s kind of funny that it took a daring German trespasser to remind the world of the transcendent energy of Cairo, Egypt.
The view is pretty great.
Ohio Against the World
Jesse Owens ran in a lane nobody thought was possible.
Rarely are sports simply about the competition alone. The undercurrents run much deeper and the motivation for an athlete can reveal their character. In the case of Jesse Owens, a once-in-a-lifetime runner and jumper, his finish line was different and more profound than everybody else on the track. The risk-reward for Owens was so great it extended beyond Ohio’s borders and got the attention of Nazi Germany and Hitler himself at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.
Ladies and gentlemen, you’ll never look at track and field or Owens the same way again after watching this brand new trailer for Race.
While it feels like a marathon to get the story of Jesse Owens told on the silver screen, his life on-and-off the track will win over our hearts and minds in a matter of seconds.
10.3 to be exact.
Working 5 in 9
Robert Lewandowski did the impossible.
A display of pure brilliance from a Bundesliga match earlier today between Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg is going to seem unreal, utterly fanciful.
It’s not.
Soccer is the beautiful game and there have been countless goals, braces and hat-tricks throughout its extensive history that warrant great fanfare. Some of these moments define players forever. Forwards (for instance) cannot score off of every touch, pass or shot. That just doesn’t happen.
Or, that never used to happen.
For any striker, patience combined with relentless effort and vision is what creates opportunities to score and celebrate in style.
Okay, here we go.
Watch the entire video and pay close attention to Bayern Munich player Robert Lewandowski (#9 in red), his total goal tally AND the time frame of the goals. Oh, and he was a substitute at the beginning of the second half.
In one word: Epic!
1 = Goal
2 = Brace
3 = Hat-Trick
4 = TBD
5 = The Wolf Hunter
Juggling a Ball Has a Cool Side
It’s the middle of May, which means the weather is nice and is warming up into the 70s and 80s in most areas. What to do outside? Well, if you have a few minutes this weekend, I suggest taking up juggling. However, forget about those boring yellow tennis balls and pick up a soccer ball for a more exciting and entertaining challenge.
Don’t believe me that juggling a soccer ball can be entertaining?
Now that’s German efficiency at its best.
