Tuesday Is the Elevator of Days
This is Tuesday.
Awkwardness on elevators is nothing new. There’s just something inherent about having people–usually perfect strangers–standing together in a confined space, even for only a few moments, that sparks mild discomfort at best and stressful hilarity at the best of the best.
What we must determine in these split decisions is what is better for our health when we are about to get on an elevator with someone else like in the scene above:
Walking up stairs or exerting substantial energy from explaining to our random elevator mate why we are pressing every single button on the elevator panel for personal spite entertainment?
Whichever option you have the most enthusiasm for at the moment is the right choice.
Happy Monday!
This is Monday.
So, what’s the grand life lesson here that will lead us to happiness that knows no bounds?
Defend (with decorum) your aisle seat on an airplane. Don’t get manipulated into getting middle-seated.
Have a Better Week Than Last Week.
The Apotheosis Countdown
Sitting in the studio audience during the pilot–an unforgettable experience with my dad back in the spring of 2007–‘The Big Bang Theory’ was immediately clear for take-off into the stratosphere of successful network television sitcoms. And it’s still a smash success more than a decade later in 2019.
This NASA-like launch was significantly helped (perhaps fittingly) by eventual NASA astronaut on the show Howard Wolowitz, who is played by the very funny Simon Helberg. His character’s introduction into the show is simply among the best in sitcom history.
And Penny’s intro, played by the funny and beautiful Kaley Cuoco, falls into the very same category, just for slightly different reasons.
Well, I made sure to save this scene for my blog.
Now in its twelfth and final season, the show about men and women who are equal parts science geniuses and socially awkward nerds (plus Penny and Zack) is reaching its summit with less than twelve new episodes remaining.
After tonight, the official count is nine new ‘Big Bang Theory’ episodes.
And there are still plenty of questions to be answered regarding current storylines for major and supporting characters. These lingering unresolved questions will help ensure a thoroughly entertaining final stretch for the show. Relating back to the pilot, there are key questions that need to be answered before the show takes its final bow:
- What is Penny’s last name?
- Why has Howard been wearing an unexplained alien pin on his shirt during every single episode of the series?
Before we discover these fun tidbits in the next couple of months by sitcom royalty Chuck Lorre and Co., let’s venture to a preview of tonight’s episode. Amazingly, I was in the audience for the taping of the following episode, “The Donation Oscillation,” with my mom and dad just a couple of weeks ago!
‘The Big Bang Theory’ is just as funny and entertaining live as I remembered it to be:
Witty and laugh-out-loud hilarious.
Bazing–
It’s getting a little tougher to say it without getting teary-eyed.
‘The Big Bang Theory’ airs on CBS on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET.
Giving a Friend a Helping–and Painfully Insightful–Hand
There were five claps in the ‘Friends’ theme song, right?
Anyways, ‘Friends’ ended in 2004 yet its shining pop cultural legacy continues to be as bright as its original run beginning in the nostalgic, distant yesteryear of 1994.
One of those real-life friends is Matt LeBlanc who played the non-real-life “How you doin’?” goofball ladies man Joey Tribbiani. And despite his current CBS sitcom ‘Man with a Plan,’ it’s been a while since he’s returned to his beloved character. He played a hilariously obnoxious version of himself in ‘Episodes’ with ‘Friends’ alums David Crane and Jeffrey Klarik, but that’s not enough.
Maybe it was four claps in “I’ll Be There for You”?
While we will never be treated to a ‘Friends’ reunion–just the harsh reality of a fictional world–we should take a minute to enjoy any brief return visits related to the hit show when they come to us.
Speaking of which, Matt LeBlanc just appeared on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.’
Talk about the ultimate friendly slap bet.
Tune into tonight’s ‘Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ to see the full interview with Matt LeBlanc at 11:30 p.m. ET.
