Making Space for New Stuff
What is the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) up to these days?
Whether 2001: A Space Odyssey, Apollo 13, Gravity, Interstellar, The Martian or the forthcoming First Man, Hollywood has piqued movie-going audiences into the vast realities and fantastical possibilities of space.
Sorry, a side note:
The older I get, the more I’m amused at the sheer simplicity of calling the ever-complex and unknown space “space.”
“What’s up there with the infinite stars, planets, moon, sun and all-around cosmic mystery?”
“Space.”
I digress. And so does NASA.
What highly-technical, mind-blowing innovations and life-altering journeys are being planned by NASA for this year and beyond?
Things…on a To-Do list.
The FIFA World Cup Is an Unforgettable Experience
The 2018 FIFA World Cup has kicked-off with host Russia defeating Saudi Arabia 5-nil. And with President Putin present, at least the Russian players can be confident in drinking the water after the win…
While tomorrow’s post will feature a few predictions for this glorious tournament, today’s post will focus on a particularly well-done ad by Hyundai.
Yes. Hyundai.
Nothing may ever top Nike’s airport commercial featuring Brazilian stars for the 1998 World Cup. It’s brilliant. However, a commercial spotlighting World Cup champion–and the ever-cool–Thierry Henry doing his own show-and-tell of personal soccer memorabilia is pretty awesome.
I’ll never forget seeing Thierry Henry in-person play for France in the 2006 World Cup against South Korea in the incredible Leipzig Stadium on June 18 that resulted in a 1-1 draw.
Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Henry doesn’t run. He glides and plays with world-class precision.
That’s my World Cup memory as a fan of Thierry Henry.
From Smart to Dumb & Dumber to Smarter
Everyone thinks they know ‘Dumb & Dumber.’ It was an absurdly goofy movie from the ’90s. Case closed.
But that masterpiece was so much more.
Without diving into my veritable dissertation on the aforementioned comedic classic, it’s best to briefly let Jeff Daniels (“Harry Dunne”) give us fresh insight into the very real barriers he faced for wanting to act in…a comedic movie.
In some strange way, we have to be dumb–or perhaps a more polite combination of being humble with an eagerness to learn and try things–before we can genuinely realize if we are indeed smart in some cases.
Happy Monday!
Tom Cruise has taken his stunt work to dizzying new heights.
The following video that was recently released online documents the extensive and difficult development of an insane movie stunt for Mission: Impossible – Fallout. While the action flick does not hit theaters until July 27, it’s not too early to get excited about all the practical effects and practical stunts that were used in this exciting new film.
Here’s Tom Cruise falling jumping out of an airplane in the most Tom Cruise way possible.
This movie is going to be something pretty incredible, if only for the stunts alone.
Have a Better Week Than Last Week.
