In How Many Years Will ‘Replicas’ Be Certifiability Science-Fiction?
Keanu Reeves is starring in a mind-bending replicating a science-fiction movie.
Enough said.
Promising big ideas like our role in scientific innovation, the future of AI that is on the equal intellectual ground as humans and control versus independence, ‘Replicas’ starring Keanu Reeves and Thomas Middleditch seems to have the ingredients for a memorable–and perhaps prescient–show that merely begins in the form of cinematic entertainment. The inspiration for some of society’s great inventors can be cited in films just like ‘Replicas.’
The question may not be what someone will attempt to do within this field after seeing this film. The key question to wonder about is what people are doing right now in this field of study?
Or will do…?
At least for us moviegoers, we’ll discover what ‘Replicas’ is all about soon.
Movie Magic Is a Fantastic Beast
Movies don’t always deliver movie magic. It’s just a reality.
Some are easy to predict such a fate from the basic premise and/or cast and director. Some promise an extraordinary cinematic experience in a trailer teaser followed by a series of full-length trailers spread out across a couple of months and then disappoint.
However, some deliver with unforgettable grandeur because of the writing, the director, and the cast.
Ladies and gentlemen, it appears that by some wizarding magic within the broader movie-magic construct is occurring with the forthcoming film ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.’
Prediction: ‘The Crimes of Grindelwald’ will surpass ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.’
This Is the Beginning for Director Jonah Hill
Gritty. Real. And ironically timeless.
The film ‘Mid90s’–written and directed by actor Jonah Hill–looks like a raw wound has been opened up through the lens of Mr. Hill that eventually heals into something that will make us all stronger. Clearly, the skating scene back in the–you guessed it–mid-90s had a powerful impact on the new director’s life; evident by powerful footage that seamlessly translates scripted movie scenes into reality with little to no disruption to the viewer.
The film’s latest trailer showcases just that.
Exhibit ‘Mid90s’ in late 2018:
(FYI – There are a few choice words in the trailer below)
‘Mid90s’ seems different yet familiar.
Much like the actual mid-90s.
That Famous Moon Shot
The United States won the “space race” against the Soviets on July 20, 1969. This long, dedicated pursuit and historic flight to space–through the lens of Neil Armstrong–is the focus of the film ‘First Man.’
Seems straightforward, right?
And yet there has been controversy recently surrounding the forthcoming film ‘First Man’ because there isn’t a scene that depicts the American flag literally being planted on the moon. While I will withhold final judgment until after seeing this movie, it seems like a bad call by a director–Damien Chazelle–who has made so many right calls in his young, burgeoning filmmaking career.
Without getting into the weeds here, the moon landing was an American achievement that inspired this country and the world.
That’s just reality.
Another reality is that the third trailer for ‘First Man’ is the best one yet.
Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon, but he did so with the help and support of an entire nation back on earth.
That fact can’t be omitted from history.
