Happy Monday!

Rock ‘n roll is as American as apple pie…

and Slash.

A product of the LA music scene during the ’70s and ’80s, Slash (Saul Hudson) rose to become one of the most greatest (and most iconic) guitarists in music history. His style is original and his talent is crazy incredible.

This past Saturday, college football rivalry games dominated our television sets. The Star Spangled Banner, a perfect song in its own right, was performed before each game as is tradition.

So, what happened when a perfect song received a special treatment from a living rock ‘n roll legend?

That’s America right there.

Have a Rockin’ Good Week!

Happy Monday!

Life can change in a matter of seconds.

The same goes for sports, which includes the beautiful game. And the Columbus Crew proved this sentiment with authority last night in the first leg of the MLS Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Red Bulls at Mapfre Stadium.

Blink and you might have missed it.

Justin Meram scored the fastest goal in MLS Playoff history. He blazed the back of the net just 9 seconds after kickoff. Plus, he’s #9 on the Crew. It was meant to be.

Have a Record-Breaking Week!

P.S. When it comes to the MLS Cup, the Red Bulls will not deny the Columbus Crew (Remember the 2008 Final)

That Other Team Up North

However strange the following term is for college football, it’s appropriate in the competitive sense.

It’s money time.

Ohio State vs. Michigan State will kickoff tomorrow in Ohio Stadium at 3:30 p.m. on ABC. Buckeye Nation will paint the Horseshoe in scarlet and gray. Traveling fans from East Lansing may provide a sprinkle or two of green in the crowd.

Just think of the red and green as Ohioans getting excited for Christmas.

This is the toughest game so far for both of these teams and the past three meetings have proven a Goliath vs. Goliath match-up. A trip to the Rose Bowl and a pathway towards the National Championship have essentially been all that’s separated these two programs the past 3 seasons when they’ve competed.

With several recruits planning to be in attendance, this is one of those games.

And everyone’s waiting to see the marching magic from The Best Damn Band in the Land for senior day, the final home game of the season.

Go Buckeyes!

Happy Monday!

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”
–Wayne Gretzky

Having watched my nephew and his soccer team play in (and win!) a tournament this past weekend, fundamental skills were constantly being burnished on the pitch. This ranges from dribbling to passing to shooting to positioning and defending. Occasionally, there’s a special moment, like scoring a beautiful goal that could have been intended as a crossing pass.

Either way, surprises like unexpected goals or goal-line saves leave lasting impressions.

Speaking of which…

Disney may have a new sports movie to write.

How does The Hart of a Champion sound?

Have a Kickin’ Good Week!
