Happy Memorial Day!

Pay your respects to those who have sacrificed their life for our country.

At a time when the United States is yearning for strong presidential leadership, it’s best to reflect to the past for guidance into the future. On Memorial Day, this sentiment is magnified 100-fold. Our veterans that never returned home from the battlefield demonstrated resolute strength in the face of unthinkable evil. We must always remember the reason for the long weekend, which is to honor those in America’s armed forces and celebrate what their courage means for us each and every day.

To all the American heroes in uniform:

Thank You!

Budweiser, in yet another savvy marketing move, will boldly promote patriotism on its label for beer drinking from sea to shining sea.

People drink beer when they’re happy and people drink beer when they’re sad. It’s a fairly simple product with a genius and timeless business plan. Few companies take advantage of and elevate within the alcoholic industry as well as Budweiser, as evidenced above and in their unforgettable commercials. And this year, Americans will be able to joyfully drink America when cheering on Team USA at the summer Olympics in Brazil. Conversely, Americans will be able to drink America (and their sadness away) during the presidential election.

Once again, Budweiser is not only aiming to be the most favored beer brand in the country, but it’s striving to be synonymous with the United States of America and its ideals. The people, brands, industries, products, places, events, etc. that embody this nation’s unique character have a proven track record of success. In an election cycle with so much cynicism and dissatisfaction from all sides of the spectrum pining for vision and leadership, at least Americans (21 and older) can toast and drink to something indisputably incredible:

America.

America’s Greatest Goal

Only a few days removed from the wonderful conclusion to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and it’s somewhat strange to comprehend just how glorious that one month-long tournament was and is when it’s playing out. For several weeks, fans and casual sports fans alike come together to cheer for their respective nations, as well as their favorite players and teams they admire from afar. Patriotism is on full-display with a seemingly incomparable pride in one’s country. Flags are waved and worn, colors are as bright as the faces of the goal scorers and the energy around the world for this unique sporting event is palpable.

So, where do we go from here?

That is one of the critical questions to ponder, especially when considering the optimism of people from all over the world during the biggest tournament of the world’s most popular sport. Why do we need to keep waiting for events like the World Cup to witness so many of the great things and relentless, upbeat spirits of men, women and children from all over the country and the globe? The intensity of this past World Cup (for example) seemed to even trump the passion of the 4th of July when compared to watching the U.S. matches this year.

How can we bottle this exuberance to endure beyond one single day or month?

If and how this question can be answered may hold the key to (finally) rejuvenate the United States to its necessary, new level of hope for the future.

One can dream.

Thankfully, this is the perfect place to do just that while wearing red, white and blue.

Happy 4th of July!

This long weekend is the time to celebrate all the greatness of being an American and living in the United States. The freedoms we have and the patriotism that is on display today and this weekend are spectacular. It’s the way that people show their pride in wearing the red, white and blue that brings a smile to any face.

Plus, who can forget the majesty of fireworks!
